so, I've been obsessed with The Boulet Brothers' Dragula for some time now. and with season 2 of Titans, currently airing, it has fully evolved from hyperfixation to Special Interest (tm).
i'm going to a monday night, take public transit (bless), walk through dark city streets alone in the pnw-damp, run by a local drag-monster at a gay club viewing party about it.
my desire for discourse has led me to parts of the Internet that i don't normally frequent (including r3ddit and insta). i'm not posting, but i'm lurking and i'm amused.
i've noticed people complaining about the drama, the skits, and even, unfathomably, wanting shorter floorshows (what...?) and literally everything else. and i just cannot relate.
i love it all. i love the looks. i love the gags. i love the fright feats/elimination challenges. i love the commentary. i love the reality show drama. i love the absolute queerness. i love the filth, especially when it makes me uncomfortable. i love the silly little skits. i love the boulets taking their time with whatever they want to feature. i love disagreeing with the judges. i love the mess. i love the feelings. i love the ART.
i wish we had *longer* episodes so we could have MORE of all of these things.
the show isn't perfect, and neither is anyone involved with the production, but who wants that? perfection is boring, and more importantly perfection isn't real. i believe the Boulets say it best themselves:
