Episode 1239: Making Chocolates to Remember

The quip about “future inclinations” deserves a bit of unpacking for how I got to the Japanese to that. The Japanese version of Rosetta’s last line contains the written word 未来 (mirai, “the future”) - however, it has furigana that instruct readers to pronounce it as seiheki, a word which can refer to sexual fetishes. This... really has no English analogue, but my best attempt at an approximation in my localization is to turn it into a double entendre that could refer to either their general future outlook, or to their (sexual) “inclinations” in the future. I think it came out OK, myself.
Episode 1237: White Snow, Light Clothing
Translator Notes:
The title of this episode is basically my own creation, on account of the fact that I really couldn’t find any way to phrase the Japanese title in English in a way that didn’t sound super awkward. The Japanese title was Usugi de Yukiasobi, or “Playing in the Snow while Lightly Dressed”.
The fourth panel makes usage of a word that English doesn’t really have a version of, which is memoto, referring to the space of one’s face in the vicinity of one’s eyes. There isn’t really any way to translate that without sounding weird, so instead I just inserted a line about not being able to see to make it clear that their faces are being wrapped to include the eyes as well, such that sight is impossible.
In case anyone’s curious, the Japanese version of “Cagliosled” is Soriosutoro, which is a portmanteau of sori (”sled”) and Kariosutoro (Cagliostro’s name in Japanese). So “Cagliosled” is more or less a direct translation of the Japanese.
