F - Favorite song: silly rabbit, I cannot pick ONE favorite song! I’ll name a few faves that come to mind: for playing on the piano, one of Bach’s minuets or Sonata by Mannheim Steamroller. For singing, anything in four-part harmony but especially Christmas carols. Just general faves: Break Your Heart by Barenaked Ladies, Burn from Hamilton, Islands by Sara Bareilles, Sigh No More by Mumford and Sons, and many many MANY more. Also, anything I can sing along with easily, that’s in my range.

G - Grossest memory: Oh, maybe the time I was walking down the street in downtown Vancouver and a bird pooped on my head? Or any of the times I’ve been sick with a cold and have been so congested and coughed so much that I wound up vomiting. 

H - Horror yes or Horror no: NO THANK YOU.

I - In love?: Yep, happily married and in love with my husband. Also, kind of in love with my kids. And my cats. And whatever the last really good book or fic I read was. And coffee.

J - Jealous of people?: Yeah, sometimes. I get to experience a lot of cool things because my husband is in the military and we live all of these amazing places, and we’re very comfortable financially and we don’t have to worry about paying for healthcare...but then a friend will talk about all the yard work they’re doing to make their home functional and beautiful, or my mom will mention going to my niece’s Christmas program or I’ll see photos of people’s kids on FB with their friends that they’ve gone to school with since they were in preschool, and those things all seem like impossible dreams to us. Sigh.

L - Love at first sight or should I walk by again?: I am demisexual, I will not fall in love with you until I get to know you and we’ve bonded emotionally. 

M - Middle name: Ann. Super boring and common.

N - Number of siblings: one brother, 17 months younger. Three sisters-in-law.

O - One wish: that the president of my country gets impeached or resigns soon.

P - Person you called last: Uh...I think it was my mom? She’s the main person I usually call. Everyone else I text or email. :)

Q - Question you are always asked: Did you color your hair purple yourself?

R - Reason to smile: my 6yo asks me to give her math problems all the time, and it’s really nice to see her enjoying something that a lot of people struggle with.

S - Song you last sang: Dancing Queen by ABBA, because of a comment on a gifset I saw a few minutes ago. :) (It takes very little to get me singing.)

T - Time you woke up: 0930

U - Underwear colour: black

V - Vacation destination: our vacations almost always involve visiting people, since we live so far away from our family and loved ones. I’m really hoping to get to England soon, to visit @pepperf :D

W - Worst habit: procrastination, probably

X - X-rays: I’ve had my teeth x-rayed, and I think I had my chest and stomach x-rayed for some medical stuff last spring. I’ve had MRIs done too, and a mammography.

F - Favorite food: mango, fresh bread with butter, salmon nigiri, really good fries, homemade beef stew, roasted broccoli, et al

Z - Zodiac Sign: pisces

So, I took forever to answer this, and it ended up being way too big. It was very good to write tho, I love thinking about headcanons for my fave characters!

Carmilla

Headcanon A: what I think realistically: As much as canon likes to ignore its own lore, Carmilla is a very powerful vampire. It’s not an easy thing, living for more than 3 centuries, especially with a creator like Lilita around. I headcanon each of the dean’s children developed a particular ability more than others, and for Carmilla, that is shape-shifting. Her panther form is her favorite, but turning into mist has proven advantageous more than once. That last one is an exercise in self-control, becoming another state of matter entirely is glaring proof of how well Carmilla has mastered her abilities.

What do you mean canon-divergent? That is how the series ended, Laura turned after talking with Carmilla about it, and now Laura continues to investigate stuff and make out with her girlfriend forever. They visit Mattie every other weekend.  But sure, i can write vampire girlfriends!

Laura rested against the bed’s headboard, computer on her lap, typing as fast as she could. That was really fast now. Sometimes it still caught Laura by surprise, how fast and strong she was. Vampire powers could be pretty amazing. Like how she had managed to sneak into the police’s building, find a lot of evidence the chief was a corrupt jerk, and get out of there in barely 10 seconds flat. She was back to their apartment and starting on her article in 15 more.

She heard Carmilla walking down the street outside, greeting her with a distracted ‘hey’ when she reached the door. Carm had gone out to get their weekly blood supply. The neighborhood Strigoi had been mostly amenable to sharing their sources, thought Laura was fairly sure Carmilla being older and stronger than their three leaders combined hadsomewhat influenced that goodwill. Anyway, according to these papers, the chief was working for someone pretty powerful…

Carmilla walked over, two mugs in hand, and offered Laura her favorite TARIDS mug. “Here you go Cupcake. It’s almost morning already, drink a little before going to bed,” she took the mug Carmilla offered gratefully. “Thanks Carm.” Carmilla got into bed with her, sitting by her side and reaching for one of her books while Laura finished her article. When the sun was almost rising, Laura decided it was enough. She set her laptop down by the bed, Carmilla doing the same with her book and lying down. Laura snuggled up to Carmilla, asleep the second Carmilla’s arm wound around her waist. All in all, being a vampire hadn’t changed much about Laura’s life. Only difference was that she had eternity with Carmilla to look forward to now.

pain must be shared. I'm rewatching it now to see if it's any better but...no. I should have gone into my backlog of youtube videos or started my B5 rewatch instead.

I’ll watch it. Just because it looks so awful. It might not be until the weekend tho. It might be something I have to work up to. I don’t know if I’ll be thanking you when it’s over, however.

Entire first season of Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads is up on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgSogQEz_Xo&t=5155s And obviously, we're talking UK seasons here... and they only do two so you can get through the whole thing in less than six hours.

You know, I’ve never watched it. That’s so weird. Thanks for the rec. That might just be the ticket.

Have you tried Crossing Lines? It's on netflix, 3 seasons, but only 34 episodes. It's a bit silly, but I like the characters. They are an European team of cops that solves crimes all around Europe, it make zero sense that they are allowed to do it, but it's still cool.
