Mekduk is definitely not a child, even if her way of speaking Common could be interpreted as primitive or child-like! She's like 400-800 years old, I don't have my timelines handy but she was alive when Archmage Tangriel was, so she's more comparable to a withered old woman or Gollum than she is to a child... 🥲 (I was not the one who made the poll, lol.) I was saying. I had a vision of medduk going around with a shadow over their head kind of like Olaf and his cloud in Frozen idk why so that's why I am asking: is there any potion/relic/magic that could hide demon's presence from hunters? (not at all asking for a *very* self indulging headcanon about a certain gremlin freely roaming the world lol)
Y'know, with how expansive and creative magic can get (especially when you look at the magic of other countries and how different it is, or even the magic of Archmage Tangriel's time), and that I know for a fact that certain powerful Endarkened have found ways to conceal themselves from Hunters (namely high-level Cacophants, the Faceless Lords, etc.), plus the existence of thoret and its "dampening" effects on Hunters' grace, I won't say it's totally impossible! It wouldn't be a potion, I don't think, but I won't say it could never, ever happen.
You'd just also have to address the problem that Ghasts are literally afraid of the sun and are basically burned alive by it, lol
Maybe I'm just gonked in the head but even with those visual aids, I still think Mekduk is kinda cute still? Like yeah, kinda gross but I've seen worse things in my line of work.

How would the other ROs reacted to meeting Mekduk when the MC goes back to the cave to try and save her?
Trouble: he would have been all for saving her in concept, but would have been super thrown off by the eyeless literal ghoul that MC is so intent on saving, in his head he thought she was like... a cute yet dirty little goblin or something lol
Tallys: she would have been wary of Mekduk but mostly sympathetic of her plight and grateful towards her for saving MC
Shery: you couldn't have dragged her into that cave unless you knocked her out and bodily carried her... but if she'd met Mekduk, she would have looked past her appearance and really pitied and sympathized with her... and she would have been very interested to know that she was the last person to see Archmage Tangriel alive!
Riel: he would have been fascinated by her as a concept (a talking Ghast? this changes everything) but repulsed by her physical state and dirtiness lol, he could have probably talked past his distaste and just fired a bunch of interrogation-style questions at her though
Chase: he would have been unfazed, not the weirdest thing he's seen, like oh cool never heard of a Ghast, oh this one talks? well i didn't know they weren't supposed to so 🤷♂️
Red: he would have just been fascinated by her and it would have been hard to pull him away because of how many questions he had about... everything, her biology, lifestyle, diet, thought process, etc...
Ayla: I think before seeing Mekduk she would have been impatient about it, like "why do we have to waste time looking for this Tainted thing again??" but then once they met, she would have been like "must... protect..."
Briony: she'd feel so bad for Mekduk and would probably cry afterwards, like "I know she can't live in the sun but that's so saddddd 😭😭😭!!!!!!!!!! WHYYYYY"

Was there any inspiration behind Mekduk? I just think she's neat!
No inspiration in particular! I think there are shades of Smeagol when he's actually nice and pathetic and pitiable and loyal and eager to please and not all... Ring-fucky, but I didn't set out with him in mind at first when I was writing Mekduk! I just wanted this horrifying-looking creature who had a kind of fretful, cowering childlike innocence to her, but also an edge of 'can you really trust her because she definitely lacks some cultural understanding/conventional morals and might eat you if she had to--but she's not evil, just could be dangerous' survivalism to her! I'm so glad you like her! :')
im just imaging after getting the cure and whatnot the mc telling blade they gotta stop back by the cave before they leave without explaining further, going inside for a bit then reappearing with mekduk perched on their hip like a toddler and being like "this is mekduk shes my new child and i would kill for her, she saved my life and shes coming with us". i think blade would have a stroke.

I’m pretty surprised at how much I like Mekduk, though I’m pretty worried about her. I don’t want to leave her but I bringing her out seems like it would be a disaster with Halek and Naolin right outside.
Yeahhhh, the problem is, even if you could somehow convince them to go against everything they believe, know, and stand for and somehow convince literal exorcists to give demonspawn a chance, their racial blood-rage still wouldn’t let them!
