So instead of waiting a few days to do the SNME fallout on SmackDown for the audience, the random Fanatics Fest SummerSlam Kick Off show has now announced Gunther vs Nick Aldis, and, even more baffling, done the entire 180 of Cody and Punk's relationship from out of nowhere.
And I'm sorry... but it sucks.
Like sure the guys are doing their best to make it make sense but it just doesn't. From having all this love and affection to insulting each other and implying there's all this massive underlying tension... It feels like we've skipped two weeks of build and conversation needed to give it the weight it needs?
SHOW DON'T TELL is such an important thing, and it's demonstrated here perfectly.
Cody is TELLING us, not showing us, that it's hard to be friends with Punk, and the interesting point Punk's made about Cody being paranoid/anxious because John and Randy both stabbed him in the back has been lost because we haven't SEEN enough of it yet.
Losing some really interesting angles for their build to a ten minute kick off show is just so frustrating.
This company never learn.
