owie. the concept of manon forgetting about sophia. yeowch
full disclosure: i havenât seen the tom holland spider-man movies (and donât want to), and itâs been years since i watched the others. however, iâve played the first insomniac game (+ milesâ. i have the second game but i havenât had the motivation to play) and watched itsv and atsv 3-5 and ~11 times, respectively
while i was thinking about spiderphia and gwenon a few days ago i was like âi might want to make manon mj insteadâ 1) to undoom them and 2) to avoid dani being mj. so tempting to #deadwife manon though
WORLD STOP. maphinz upside down kiss. itâs all over my screen. ok no more gwenon. forget gwenon. we love manonj
i love taking a while to think about asks before i answer them because i just thought of marquise as gwen. problem solved. marquen
spiderphia ramblings that are pretty unrelated to your ask:
spider-man always gets back up. but maybe itâs okay to stay down sometimes. just for a bit
in an au where the rest of the group is still normal, sophia could (and probably should) tell the others who/what she is. they could help somehow. she knows they can keep a secret. but she wonât
au where the others are not normal people for funsies:
black cat lara and deadpool dani?
meichae as a ghostflower equivalent maybe? this would be like way later in the timeline. the age (ish) and first love stuff feels right. i keep flip flopping between whoâs who
peter b sophia would be fun though, which lends itself toward sunchip (yoonchae as miles). also, gwen is 1 year and 3 months older than miles in itsv/atsv, which is close enough to meichaeâs 1 year and 10 months
this is super off topic but daredevil sophia would be really fun too (valuing other people more than themselves, self-sacrificing, kind, guilty, catholic)

Cards on the Table, We're Both Showing Hearts || Megwen ||
Two months had passed since the night where everything fell apart. Gwen's stab wound had been reduced to a small scar that was only painful when she touched it directly and only as visible as the marks she had from being shot years ago. When she stopped to think about it, Gwen just wished her heart would settle and heal as quickly as her body had. It was no use. When she tried to count the days, she was thinking on the last time she saw Meg in person rather than how many days since the actual incident.
They'd exchanged a series of depressing and sometimes passive-aggressive texts and private messages, always looking out for each other because that was an impossible habit to break; but Gwen was fairly certain that it had been thirty-nine days since she'd broke down, sobbed, confessed everything and packed her bags. She busied herself with work and with Owen as much as she could, but it was getting more difficult as time went on. That was probably why she spent more time than she needed to at the supply tables.
No one was allowed into the Hub without a passcode and most everything was safe down there. No one was around to pick up rations at this time, though, and Gwen had to wonder if it was because they were too proud to accept help or if they simply refused to deal with her. The people of the Pocket should have all known about this option by now so Gwen just waited. Ianto sat with her in silence for awhile when her shift had technically ended. Not for the first time, she caught herself staring at the mobile version of Meg's blog. She wanted to make sure Meg was taken care of and that their mutual friend Sherlock had enough to eat. God knew he wouldn't fetch the supplies for himself.
Gwen willed herself into sending a brief message but she was torn between requesting Meg come get supplies while she was there or right when she planned on leaving. Avoiding her exgirlfriend hurt just as much as seeing her would have. She startled when she looked up and faced what she'd both hoped and dreaded to see. She got to her feet without a word and gestured for Meg to come closer. Words failed her at first. She would have asked Ianto to leave but, if he wasn't watching this, someone else would be and his presence actually gave her a good excuse to do something she probably shouldn't.
She reached under the table and stood up properly this time with a small cardboard box in her hands. "Set a few things aside," she explained vaguely. She'd started with Meg's scone recipe but, after setting two small cartons of raisins in the box, realized there wasn't much flour or sugar among the nonperishable goods. Instead, she'd filled it almost loving like a care package with just a little of each unique item she could find. Gwen moved to hand the box off to Meg before she reconsidered. "I was just leaving, actually," she offered before she could stop herself. Her heart stared to race and she'd yet to even attempt to form eye-contact. "'Could grab a few more things, walk this home with you..."

I think you did fine. I love it. Youâre beautiful too.
Christ. That's Welsh. That's more Welsh than I know. Meg, that's not even fair. I skimmed all my notes so far and I still don't know if you're calling me "Welsh" or saying you'd try to understand the Welsh language for me but... Wow. Just, you're amazing, you are!
Some good old English this time: I love you. I bloody love you and I don't know how else to say it.
GENERAL NOTES: Meg learns what Dean did at Torchwood. Gwen learns Eva's name. I just have a lot of feels, okay.
Gwen 's hand looked worse than it felt. There were scrapes and bruises she hadn't even bothered to cover. She made an odd transition from alcoholic to workaholic and then back again, doing all she could not to think about the glove, about anything. The incident with Dean had made things so much worse but at least she had something to do. That was, until she realized, someone had to tell Meg. Gwen's PSA would have sparked some curiosity but anyone who'd even heard of Torchwood would have rather addressed Jack than her. That just left the question of Dean Winchester's whereabouts and current condition. Gwen didn't want to. Meg was her only solace and she felt this would ruin it. She finally resolved to just go one step at a time when she came home late the next evening, found Meg in bed and crawled up beside her without a proper verbal greeting.
Meg had long since given up with waiting for Gwen to come home. She knew that whenever Gwen was to get home, she'd get home. So, checking her blog one last time, Meg was caught off-guard by Gwen's PSA. Furrowing her brows, she leaned in a little closer to the screen to read the page. "What the hell...?" Taking a few deep breaths and hoping everything was okay, she shut her laptop off and quickly went to bed. She maybe got an hour of sleep in when she felt the warm body of the woman she loved crawl next to her. Slowly flipping over, Meg smiled sleepily at her and paced a hand on her cheek. "Didn't think you'd be back for a while, what's up?"
Gwen didn't regret waking Meg. It was good to see her face. Feeling Meg's hand on her cheek, she smiled and covered it with her own, giving it a brief reassuring squeeze before she tried to answer that question. "I was in hospital." No. That came out wrong. "I mean, it's Torchwood." She stared down at Meg, uncertain where to even start.
Meg 's expression quickly went from loving to confused and then finally to worried. Quickly turning back over, Meg turned the light on and sat up to look down at Gwen. "Woah--okay, what?" Worry clearly evident in her voice as she tried to figure out what was going on.
Gwen watched that transition of emotion and felt sick. The light was dim but still unwelcome. She sighed. "Someone broke into the town hall. We should have been more prepared, but we weren't. We only just set this up and-" Gwen was getting off topic and still trying her damnedest to be calm and vague about the whole thing. "The surveillance stuff's been destroyed and, cor, you should have seen it." Gwen shut her eyes for a brief pained moment before addressing the more crucial point, "Everyone's in hospital: our team and... the man who did it."
Meg instantly stilled. It truly didn't take her long to piece things together. Breathing heavier than she originally was and now fully awake, Meg looked away from Gwen and clenched her jaw. "You mean Dean." It was a statement and not a question as Meg balled her hand into a fist. Why couldn't he just let things be? "You're not hurt are you?" Looking back at Gwen, Meg began to scan her face and then the uncovered parts of her body for signs.
Gwen froze in place and stared in a chilled, momentary horror. "How'd you know?" It was probably a stupid question but it also served as a brief distraction while Gwen made a quick and final decision. "Just this." She held up her right hand, turning her palm to face Meg and then the back of it. In truth, there wasn't a scratch on her related to the struggle Dean had caused but she wasn't talking about the glove and this made for a nice cover- even if Gwen hated herself for it. "I was lucky, actually. Owen's got the others. Dean too. He's..." Well, of course Meg was going to ask but Gwen didn't have a solid answer to give her. "You know, he'll pull through."
Meg let out an irritated sigh at Dean and not at Gwen's shock. "Because he's stupid and he thinks that destroying shit would fix his problems. He's wrong." Meg rolled her eyes at the sheer annoyance she had gained towards the hunter. Refocusing on Gwen, Meg took her hand and held it as she surveyed the damage. "At least it was just this, I'm so sorry." Leaning down, Meg placed a soft kiss onto Gwen's lips before sitting back up. "How badly hurt are the others? ...And Dean?" Meg hated to admit that she still cared for the guy, especially since she was with Gwen. But denying it would be foolish and she knew that Gwen would see right through it.
Gwen let herself focus on the questions she still had to answer rather than her personal guilt. She welcomed the kiss, simple and brief as it was and convinced herself it helped. These next few facts would be easier to get out if she just presented them the way she'd deliver a status report. "Last I checked, Ianto was still unconscious. Tosh has been in and out, but she's strong, you know? She'll be okay, but Jack died." Gwen paused to let out a heavy sigh. "Twice actually." Ever after all those years, it still felt wrong to be so calm about it. "Dean is..." This was hard part. She couldn't give Meg cause to worry or reason to blame Torchwood, but she still owed her the truth, at least about this much. "Dean was shot. He's in hospital but it wasn't... I mean, Owen's doing... Megs, please don't freak out." Trying to ignore another spell of nausea, Gwen grabbed hold of Meg's hand and held tight, suspecting that Meg still wasn't and likely never would be over him.
Meg settled into an eerie kind of silence as told her the conditions of her teammates. At the mention of Jack dying twice, Meg raised a brow and turned to make eye contact with Gwen. "Dean didn't..."kill him, was where her sentence was going but she just couldn't ask it. When Gwen told her that Dean was shot, a pang of guilt and slight disappointment crossed her mind. "I'm sure he deserved it," she stated coldly before returning the tight embrace.
Gwen was grateful when Meg left that question unasked. She wouldn't have liked the answer. Still, Gwen was a little more surprised that Meg was so calm about Dean being shot. Sure, he'd recover. She'd already promised that much, but wasn't she... Gwen shook her head, unable to process the thought. She gently ran her hands along Meg's back, trying to be comforting, trying to hide the fact that she was close to breaking down herself. "Deserved it sounds a bit harsh," she sighed against Meg's shoulder, not necessarily disagreeing but still feeling the need to have it said. "Okay, but what I don't understand..." she pulled back just a bit while she thought about it. "He destroyed all the CCTV stuff, but it wasn't like random. It was like he knew. He didn't just want to hurt the team, it was too... crazy." That seemed like the only sound adjective for Dean's actions.
Meg raised a brow and let out an uncomfortable sigh. "He wasn't thinking and that's what makes him an idiot. I know how his mind was working and he was being selfish." Whipping her head to look at Gwen, Meg did the only thing she could and shrugged. "It had to do with our daughter. Eva. I can bet that's why he Hulked out on you guys..." Rolling her eyes and shaking her head, Meg went back to staring at the wall before mumbling a 'fucking moron'.
Gwen wasn't willing to admit that a part of her actually had empathy for Dean- not because she felt bad for him at the moment but because she sort of understood that reckless act, or maybe the glove was still messing with her head. Dean Winchester hadn't really cared about the tapes: he'd gone looking for a fight. Gwen was tempted to point this out but Meg said something else and she froze. "Eva," she repeated, not realizing the effect it might have on Meg. "Eva-Evangeline? Oh my god..." That was the name Dean had said. It didn't take a detective to put those two thoughts together.
Meg 's eyes widened as she realized she had said her daughter's name aloud. Letting out a soft gasp, she turned to look back at Gwen and started to stutter. "He-He, uh, said her name didn't he?"
Gwen realized the mistake she'd made but at this point, she couldn't do much more than nod to confirm it. "Yeah, he did." She didn't add that Meg had also said it- well, the first syllable of it -just now. What was the appropriate response to that anyway? "I'm sorry."
Meg shook her head before moving her arm to wrap it around Gwen and pulled her closer. "It's fine." Slowly, Meg leaned her head on top of Gwen's before letting out a sigh. "I think... I think it's just now hit him... really."
Gwen wasn't entirely sure how long ago Meg had lost the baby, but it seemed like enough time had passed to get any and all irrational responses out of the way by now. "We've got most of the clinic on lockdown," Gwen tried to redirect because she was powerless to reassure Meg otherwise. "But you could go see him if you want." It might have been a bad idea. Gwen didn't care. "Megs," she sighed after a beat of tense silence. "What about you? It's understandable- it's okay, if you're not quite done with the grief either."
Meg pondered the idea of going to see Dean and resolved that she would after she had a talk with Jack. "Probably very smart that you do." Shrugging, Meg turned to nuzzle into Gwen's hair--feeling instantly better at her scent. "I suffered when it happened and then I went into that funk, but I'm okay now. As okay as I'll get," she mumbled into her hair before applying a small kiss.
Gwen paused to mentally go over the details to see if there was anything else Meg needed to know before she went off to either comfort or confront Dean. "He's lost a lot of blood. He was hallucinating- pretty badly. He thought Jack was Sam. He thought I was their mother... I sort of have to assume that's more sad than it is insulting." She shrugged one shoulder, somewhat sadly and turned her full attention to Meg. "I know. 'Think I'd of done the same if it was Anwen." Welcoming that tiny kiss to her head, Gwen shifted just a moment after to shut her eyes and let her forehead press against Meg's just briefly. She placed her injured hand against Meg's hair and let her fingers tangle in it. "There's no making it okay. You just live your life." With no better comfort to offer, Gwen resorted to the default, "I'm here for you. We're okay," she breathed softly and moved to stare into Meg's eyes. "We'll be okay."
