Control PS4 Game Review
The fine folks over at Megarom sent us a review code for the new game from 505 Games/Remedy Entertainment, Control. I really looked forward to this game since it’s announcement at E3.
You play as Jesse Faden, looking for answers to what happened to her and what happened with her brother Dylan. The only place that would have answers to her questions is the Federal Bureau of Control(FBC for short), a secret branch of the US that specializes in “Paranatural” phenomenon that occur as a result of Altered World Events(AWE). Jesse becomes the director of the FBC(when you pickup the Service Weapon) due to the mysteries death of the current Director, Zachariah Trench. The FBC is located in New York, in a building called The Old House. Think of the old house as something that comes out of a Harry Potter movie, from the outside it looks like a normal building but inside it constantly shifts and is far bigger.
As you play the game you get to unlock more and more of the story and also more of Jesse’s powers. She starts of with a type of psychokinetic blast and then progres up from there. At one point you even get levitating abilities. The Old House has been taken over by The Hiss(the main enemy in the game). The Hiss is a type of paranormal entity that takes over human hosts(some just floating bodies) and as you progress through the game get to “cleanse” areas that the Hiss has taken over. What is nice also about this is that you can fast travel between the points in the game that you have “cleansed” so you don’t have to run from point to point.
The story so far for me is really engaging and feels to me like the guys from 505 Games got all the people from The Twilight zone, Outer Limits and told them make us a story. It’s weird, it’s scary, it’s Scifi and I love it!
The graphics and sound really puts you on edge especially when you just unlocked an Object of Power(like your Service Weapon). I played this on the normal PS4 and looked stunning, but on PC you can look forward to full-on ray tracing(that’s if you have a RTX card in your pc).
Overall I was excitedly happy with Control. From the storyline right up to the graphics on the game. I would really recommend this to anybody that loves a good game(and to anybody that has a RTX GPU). This is also coming on to my Recommend Games to Play for this year. This is your local mad scientist signing out….Is this real life or is this just Fantasy

Kingdom Hearts III Review
The Kingdom Hearts series is one that has a great following and is a great mix of East meets West with the Disney pop culture mixing in with the Japanese game culture mostly known with JRPG games. Although Kingdom Hearts III is numbered three, it is the twelfth instalment in the series and promises to be the conclusion for the Dark Seeker Saga.
There has been a long wait Kingdom Hearts III as the planning started after the release of Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix. KH3 was finally announced in 2013 and now we can finally play it. Usually with a big anticipated title like this comes a big expectation, so you will probably read a lot about the game in the coming weeks. Let’s get on with my review…
I will not waste time talking about the tremendous story line of Kingdom Hearts as it will take hours for us to discuss that alone. I will say that the game continues the story line and as I wrote above it promises to end of the Dark Seeker Saga. Let’s touch on how the game and story starts then we will go from there.
As you start the game, Sora fails to complete his Mark of Mastery in Dream Drop Distance. In this process Sora also lost a lot of his Strength so Yen Sid send him off along with his friends Goofy and Donald Duck, on a quest to regain it. From the get go, you will see that the game has a lot of content, as you play in the beginning and get options for some tutorial assistance there is also an option that pops up that reads “Help me remember” In this option you can play videos that will give a summary of the past storylines and what happened. I find this very cool as you can jog up the old noggin with info and then get into the heat of things.
There is a lot of cutscenes in the game which is really cool but at times you just want to get on with the action. Save points can also be a bit scarce at times so be sure you look out for these glowing lights and save when you can. Usually you will also find a Moogle shop close to save points, be sure to stock up on items you might require like health potions and to check if there is any new weapon stock for Goofy or Donald.
To travel between worlds you will again use a Gummiship, the editor has also been improved for the Gummishop and you can easily lose a few hours working on a new design or editing some templates. You also get a new Gummiphone to use on your travels to be able to communicate with the bigger team. With the phone you can capture photos, there are some rare emblems that you need to find and take photos of and the moogles will also ask for some specific photos as well. You will get rewards for taking these photos but apart from that you can take photos of whatever you like. The Gummiphone also has some other cool stuff like info on characters and enemies and the ability to play classic games “minigames”. These games can be found all over the worlds and is a nice addition and something to provide a little break.
After visiting a specific world, you will find the bistro, a new place where you can create some delicious meals for the team with various ingredients collected. I found this really cool as every dish you create you will go into a minigame to prepare the dish. The team will get bonus effects by eating meals that last a certain time and extra bonuses can be achieved by creating full course meals. I won’t spoil anything else of the Bistro as it is a cool journey to unlock it.
The character, equipment and inventory work like expected from most JRPG games, the menu makes sense and there is a little exclamation mark if there is something new. The only difference I would’ve done is for the exclamation mark to disappear after you have highlighted the new item. Most things work the same as before with little differences.
The look of the game is great and I enjoyed how the characters sometimes looks different when visiting specific worlds. The story progresses on a steady pace and all the side stories of the different world tie in very well. One flaw for me is that the game can be to easy, most of the times Sora will feel more powerful than the enemies you face.
Kingdom Hearts III delivers on what was expected, and epic story with great worlds to explore and awesome characters. There are very little they could have done to improve the game which is always a great sign. Definitely a game that sets the benchmark for the year.

Assassins’ Creed Odyssey Review
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Sparta!!! Yes, a lot of people will shout this when playing the game, especially when performing the iconic Spartan Kick. Assassins’ Creed returns with Assassins’ Creed Odyssey and this time we go even further back than Origins, about 400 years before in fact, the setting is in Greece during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta.
One of the biggest things people will think is how cliché is it doing a Greek Mythology setting? Well I’m happy to report that the game does not feel clichéd at all, it feels fresh yet familiar and having the two protagonists helps as well. We had an interesting interview with the script writer of Odyssey Daniel Bingham and you can listen to the interview here.
You can choose to play as Kassandra or Alexios siblings and part of Leonidas’ bloodline, their journey will take them all over Greece to uncover some secrets, understand the war (Even tipping the scales) and ultimately trying to find the staff of Hermes. In the present, you play as Layla Hassan who uncovered the spear of Leonidas and tying this into the animus reveals the DNA of the two protagonists and making you choose which path to follow.
As with all the AC series, the game is very tied to historical stuff, but the writing was done superbly to make it fresh and feeling new. Naval battles have also returned from Black Flag and add a lot of enjoyment to the game. The map is huge, and you can easily get lots in just one province for days exploring, doing side quests and just checking the scenery.
You can partake in the war between Athens and Sparta and there is a War System that controls this in the game. You can influence the outcome of the war in regions and this will also affect how the region reacts to you.
The RPG elements of Odyssey is the best yet in the series. With your equipment, you can equip different kinds of weapons and armour, upgrade them, dismantle them, sell them or go to a blacksmith to engrave enhancements on them, on an open slot, to improve the weapon. You unlock new engravings in different ways, like progressing further in the story, levelling up or doing quests.
On the ability/skill side, you now have more freedom on what you can upgrade and what you want to focus on, apart form unlocking new abilities or skills you can also upgrade some to a better level. There are three major sections, Hunter, Warrior and Assassin. Some abilities/skills can drastically improve gameplay so choosing what to unlock/upgrade first can count a lot to your journey.
Assassins’ Creed Odyssey is quickly becoming my favourite release in the series so far. It has everything that fans ask for great improvements, return of favourite gameplay, new gameplay and lots of options and a massive map. A great contender for Game of the Year![/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”31981,31982,31983,31984,31985,31986,31987,31988,31989,31990″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

Far Cry 5 Review

Far Cry 5 Review
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
Far Cry is back with one of the most “in-Your face” protagonist yet. The Seed family will touch some nerves for everyone playing this game. How will you take on the Seeds and free Hope County of this cult?
Eden’s Gate is where the main action takes place and father Joseph Seed rule with his dictatorial ways. Far Cry 5 received a lot of attention, probably more than its predecessors and I personally really looked forward to play it. I haven’t been so excited for a Far Cry title since Primal.
Starting the game, you can choose the gender of your character and then the heat gets turned on straight away. The cinematic starts with you as a rookie of law enforcement and along with other members you assist a US Marshal to go serve out a warrant and arrest Father Joseph Seed. Along the way to Seed’s church the Sherriff talks about what bad idea this is and that there is still time to turn around.
At Eden’s Gate you see how hectic this cult is and then with hesitation you finally reach the church. Inside the church your team interrupts Seed busy preaching. Here you are tasked to arrest Joseph Seed. There is a cool little Easter egg here, if you just stand still and not arrest the Father for about 10 minutes then a cinematic continues where you do not arrest the father and the game ends showing the end credits. When you arrest the Father and escort him to the chopper, hell breaks loose.
I can go on and on to tell you how gripping the story is, but you must experience it for yourself. Far Cry 5 is one of the best Open World shooters to be released in a long time, probably for the last 2 – 3 years.
Hope County’s scenery will take you in and you can easily get lost in the beautiful country sights but get too lost and something will come and bite you. Around every bush or tree or river or road lies something dangerous. If it’s not an animal, it will be human and yes, they are un-friendly as well.
Because of the open world setting, you have the freedom to play the main story quests in the order that you prefer. The Seed Family is spread across 3 regions in Hope County with each one ruling in a different way. Holland Valley is John Seed’s area. This area might look like a postcard to send to your family, but the cult will reap everything they can for their supplies. Faith Seed’s region is called Henbane River. Once a beautiful lush hot spring area, now it is a place of labour and worship converting people into cult followers via use of drugs. Lastly, we have Jacob Seed’s Whitetail Mountains, full of wildlife and proper wilderness, this is where the army gets built and trained. Be sure that you are ready to take on this region.
To assist with your mission, you can hire a buddy (online Friend), a Fang or a Gun. Fangs for Hire are animals that will assist you in combat and even in other means like Boomer the dog brining you a gun. Cheeseburger the bear can be a ferocious ally as well, striking fear into your foes. When you assist some people in Hope County they will offer to be hired as a Gun. They will then take your commands and be your ally in the field.
Apart form all the quests and missions you can also do some other things like crafting upgrades, hunting, fishing and soaring the skies in a wingsuit. These activities can keep you busy and if you are not careful can distract you form what is important, building the resistance!
Introduced in Far Cry 5 is Far Cry Arcade, this is a mode where you can play by yourself, co-op or pvp up to 12 players. You can create maps here if you love building maps and share it with the world or you can just go and bash out some levels with buddies or the online community. Far Cry Arcade is paving a new way for Multiplayer in the Far Cry series.
Far Cry 5 has lots to offer and with the extra content still coming like Zombies and Mars you are really getting a ton of gameplay for your buck. This is a must have game for 2018![/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”29323,29324,29325,29326,29327,29328,29329,29330,29331″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]

SOUTH PARK™: THE FRACTURED BUT WHOLE™ IS COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH
[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]PLAYERS CAN JOIN THE BATTLE TO SAVE SOUTH PARK ON APRIL 24TH
[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Today, Ubisoft® and South Park Digital Studios announced that South Park™: The Fractured But Whole™ will be available on Nintendo Switch on April 24th. Created, written and directed by Trey Parker and Matt Stone and developed by Ubisoft San Francisco, South Park: The Fractured But Whole is an outrageously offensive superhero adventure that players can now experience anywhere, anytime on the Nintendo Switch. South Park: The Fractured But Whole is PEGI 18.
In addition to the base game, the first two pieces of add-on content, “Danger Deck” and “From Dusk Till Casa Bonita”, will be available for purchase either separately or as part of the season pass. The third piece of add-on content, “Bring the Crunch”, will also come to the Nintendo Switch when it releases this summer.
In The Fractured But Whole, crime is on the rise in South Park, and the streets have never been more dangerous. As the sun sets on the quiet Colorado town, terror, havoc, and chaos are unleashed as the seedy underbelly of the city comes alive. The town needs new heroes to come to the rescue. Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to save the town and create the best superhero franchise ever, his own Coon and Friends, with himself, The Coon, as the leader.
In Danger Deck, players will be teleported to never-before-seen locations throughout South Park to fight enemy encounters custom-crafted by the Freedom Pals. These increasingly difficult encounters will test and push the limits of any superhero.
In From Dusk Till Casa Bonita, Mysterion’s sister is in trouble. She’s fallen in with the Vamp Kids of South Park, who have descended upon Cartman’s favorite restaurant, Casa Bonita. Players will need to fight darkness with darkness and embrace the new Netherborn class, which offers four new occult powers. Enter the battle alongside a new buddy, Henrietta the Goth.
