It's kinda wild to think about how we went through a Mega-evolution arc in "El's Alolan Adventures" this year just for Legends ZA to tackle exactly what Guzma and El had been discussing and only for the DLC to drop MEGA GOLISOPOD *THREE DAYS* BEFORE THE COMIC'S ANNIVERSARY, WHAT THE HELL

AND HAU CAN HAVE A MEGA NOW TOO??? YOU GET A MEGA! AND YOU GET A MEGA! ALL OF TEAM ALOLA GETS A MEGA

Sadly it's too late to include the new forms in the current storyline, but I can very much show you how these two dorks would react upon seeing it for the first time 😂 THANKS FOR ALL THE MESSAGES BTW, it's really sweet y'all immediately thought of me upon seeing mega Golisopod for the first time ;w;

I'm not going to lie, I don't really get what Mega Golisopod's going for. When it first came out I couldn't even tell what was different without directly comparing the two, and even figuring it out I'm...still not sure what it's going for.

Basically, Mega Golisopod now has four legs instead of two, arranged in a square formation. The arms under its torso are retracted, and there's now two extra arms above its back that it can shoot the claws out of like cannons. It also has a longer "beard", jagged "eyebrows", and yellow eyes, plus some extra fur around its main arms.

You also will notice that GameFreak did the same color-changing trick they did with other similar-looking megas like Charizard, Greninja, and Zeraora to make it look more different than it actually is. In this case, Goliopod is now dark gray and dark purple. I'm not a big fan of this change in all honesty—if the purple areas were now white or something it could've worked, but as-is it's very low-contrast and the palette looks muddy.

Mostly, though, I'm just left scratching my head over why these changes were made. Golisopod starts off as a cowardly wimp that evolves into a badass, except not really because it's still low-key a wimp. It's also a samurai and an isopod. Which of those themes is Mega Golisopod building off of? The answer is neither. And I wouldn't even mind that if there was rhyme or reason to the changes made, but again, there doesn't seem to be other than some general cyborg inspiration (which in and of itself still has nothing to do with Golisopod).
