A slightly different post... because it’s my birthday! 🎈 I have this very strange tradition of making my own birthday cake. I guess it avoids the disappointment of being presented with a cake that isn’t quite to my taste...This one is medovnik - Russian honey cake. I’ve actually been making medovnik the past few years - it’s become my little celebratory treat to self. I like to use a darker honey and have it less on the sweet side (and of course, layer it with sour cream to add a little zesty tang 🍋😉) ~ Although not pictured, I most definitely will be serving my medovnik with tea.
