This is the Norderburg in Dornum. It's pretty but doesn't seem that spectacular right? Well I promised you all a good and bloody tale! The Norderburg was build 1400 by Olde Hero von Dornum. His son and heritage Lütet married a woman named Ocka tom Brok from one of the mightiest noble family in the German north. Two big families joined together and ruled over Ostfriesland and they all lived until old age. Or they would have if Lütets evil stepmother (of course it hast to be the stepmother) didn't told him that his wife Ocka betrayed him. There was no evidence for that but Lütet believed it and, so the legend says, smashed his wife's head with a mace. At this point of the story I thought the two families would call for war against each other but what happened in reality is so stunning, cruel and a little bit funny too. The evil stepmother, Foelke Kampana, had been intrigues against her husband for years. In the moment where Ocka died she gathered the soldiers of her husband and they took the castle, dragged the husband and son-in-law out to the courtyard and the soldiers beheaded them on her order! This woman knows no chill... Poorly I don't know what happened after that but only 30 years from this night the family dynasty of Ocka, one of the mightiest in ostfriesland, was extinct. Coincidence? I think not...
