I need a growlery. I've decided to convert the den.
I am reading a study about the murder of Abel in medieval traditions/depictions (I never knew that in the Middle-Ages lore he was supposed to have died uner the "Tree of Life" planted by Eve, it is fascinating). And I just want to share this detail. It is quite funny that today it is more common and "well-known" to show Cain killing Abel with a rock, yet in a census for the medieval depictions of the ways Abel was murdered, the use of a rock is... very rare. It is one of the "minor" tools of murder, appearing sparsely.
It was more widespread to depict Cain holding a weapon of some sort (an axe, a sword or a dagger), but the weapon-holding Cain was not a popular nor common tradition either, it was secondary. The actual main, biggest, most popular murder tool was an agricultural device. Now the specific tool can change (some preferred a scythe, others a plough, one time you even have a rake), but it was THE dominant idea in medieval visuals that Cain killed his brother with a field-tool. (And right next to it in the classify, above the weapons, was... the jaw of a donkey. The second most widespread murder-device for Cain)

I WANT A SWORD.
I WANT A FULL, BULKY SUIT OF ARMOR.
I WANT TO BE THE HEAD OF THE ROYAL GUARD, SERVING THE ROYAL FAMILY.
I WISH TO SLAY THINE ENEMIES, MOUNTING THEIR HEAD AS I EARN MY VICTORY.
I WISH TO RIDE HORSES INTO BATTLE.
I WISH TO COME FROM ACROSS THE KINGDOM TO SERVE MY HOUSE UPON THE QUEENS HAND.
I WANT TO KNEEL BEFORE HER AS SHE KNIGHTS ME AND EARNS ME THE TITLE "SIR".
Hi! It's me, again.
Yesterday, you told me you love medieval movies. What about Merlin tv shows? I watched twice or more the mini-series "Merlin" with Sam Neill and Helena Bonham Carter (Morgan Le Fey) and I'm watching "Merlin's apprentice".
I love "Merlin", can't wait to rewatch it again.
I tried the tvshow with Colin Morgan and Bradley James but I never finished the first season, idk why.
Hi!
I like Merlin and Arthur but the problem with their films or series is that is always the same story haha, but I found the Merlin 1998 you told me and I'll watch it! (Is this the film/series that lasts 3 hours?)
Well, I say that but I love Robin Hood's films π
I didn't see it either.
The last medieval movie I really liked is "The King". Robert Pattinson plays so well in it. I was surprised. And the battle scenes are great! β€οΈ
Oh, and "The Princess" from Disney. It's a Die Hard with a medieval girl π€£
Sorry if I talk too much, but you can recommend as many films as you like, and I will watch them when I can π

This is a recent pic -- this Saturday I'm going to be going to a Ren faire with a group of friends and I'm SUPER excited! I pulled out and dusted off my armour and now I need to replace a few cords and adjust some ties, and try it on! Stay tuned for pictures of that!
stained-glass windows really were the technicolor of their time, weren't they?

(all photos are of various stained-glass windows in the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art)
