They check in cats if they seem stressed and provide a shoulder to lean on in tough times. They also oversee any voting that occurs within the shire. The mediator is a member of the Guild. There is only ever 1 mediator at a time and they often serve another role, typically either a caregiver, keeper, or artisan.
