AMAZON TRAIL - HANDS DOWN.

Almost no one seems to have heard of this game, which was made by the same folks who gave us the original Oregon Trail. This game is twice as hard though. You get to navigate the Amazon river basin. TIME TRAVEL. Take pictures of all kinds of flora & fauna. Fish for food -- that might wind up KILLING YOU.

This was my White Whale of video games. I had played as a child, but never successfully finished it. Then, low and behold, 20+ years later, I learned that someone uploaded the WHOLE GAME to archive.org AND I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO FINISH THE GAME. It was as absurdly difficult as I remembered and I'm getting excited about a potential replay just thinking about it.

Played Oregon Trail II for old time's sake and figured "Why the hell not? Gun Frontier route!"

With only two additional party members, Harlock and Shinunora, and a small farmwagon, there's more at stake trying to keep everyone alive on the way to California. Little does the game know, Tochiro came for more than just gold, he came to find his people. ;)

But anyhow, this was a fun run, Harlock and Shinunora both got a cold early on, Harlock got water poisoning in Utah (figures, he can be kinda goofy like that in canon, who's to say he HASN'T dranken some rank ass water at some point in the manga off screen? lol), but they all came out alive and well.
