@meanbeaned found... a squid..?
It had been a long night already, to say the least, especially if the throbbing pain behind the inkling idol’s closed eyes had anything to say about it.
There, on the side of the road laying face-down in a muddy ditch, lay what appeared to be a beautiful young woman- well, she would have been beautiful if she wasn’t laying in the mud, anyways- one who was dressed in quite the sparkly outfit, black clothes covered in reflective, shiny glitter. The outfit seemed to resemble a corset, complete with bright pink lacing in the back holding it together, though her hat had fallen off... somewhere. It didn’t seem to be nearby, so it had either gotten lost before she unintentionally got pulled through time itself in her frantic escape, or someone had stolen it from her while she was out cold.
Callie had been performing alongside her cousin, Marie, at what had to have been one of the biggest shows even the two superstars had ever seen, when everything had gone completely to hell.
To be honest, she couldn’t completely recall the events of the previous night; she just could remember screaming, people fleeing, the strange sound of... a robotic telephone..? As walls collapsed around them... she tried not to recall the way several people had been crushed or otherwise lost in the debris- but the sudden thought of it made her gasp, golden eyes flying open as she scrambled to push herself upwards, trying to claw her way out of the ditch with her fingers despite feeling incredibly weak.
“Marie! MARIE!” She yelled as loud as she could, but... she was greeted with nothing but silence and some strange, black birds flying overhead as a response. Her long, black tentacles were still tied up in their signature bow, though Callie could feel a distinct pain in one of them- had something tried to take a chunk out of her while she was asleep? Gross.
Well, whatever. She had to find her cousin and make sure she was okay.
That was what Callie wanted to do, anyways, but she quickly discovered that her legs felt too much like jelly to stand up properly, no matter how hard she tried to claw her way out of the mud. This was... embarrassing, to say the least. And she was scared sick with worry about Marie’s safety.
Where was she though, anyways? The longer Callie looked around from her little ditch, the more she realized how unfamiliar this landscape was. Golden grass grew around the mud puddle she was stuck in, and she couldn’t see many- or any- buildings; this definitely wasn’t Inkopolis, then. Slumping back further down into the pit she was stuck in, the idol took a moment to pat herself down, finding... only her phone and a pair of cheap sunglasses. Which, while her phone was on still, there was a slight crack across the screen. She could only guess her landing here hadn’t been terribly gentle, then.
She was so lost in inspecting the damages of both herself and her possessions, that she completely failed to notice someone approaching from the street above, instead muttering to herself and trying to fight back tears.
