I know Odin can't control all of his subject's actions and perceptions towards Jotuns, but I think he was VERY CAPABLE of BOTH keeping Loki's identity a secret from the rest of the kingdom for Loki's safety AND not lying about Loki's origins.
From a safety standpoint, it's safer if Loki knows, because he'd avoid things that would trigger the change, or that would harm his different physiology. From a medical standpoint, lying about Loki's physiology to Loki is a very serious form of neglect.
Odin doesn't NEED to reveal Loki's origins to the entire kingdom and thus endangering him (this is how you get the comics version of marvel!Loki), nor does he have to lie to Loki about his own origins forever. Both of those actions are very unsafe and neglectful towards Loki, and from the little we see in the movies, Odin could have said something much better to tamper down kid!Thor's genocidal ambitions in front of his Jotun adopted child.

A trope that annoys me in fic is when they're trying to go overboard with how warriorly Asgardian women are to the point of having them wield weapons in situations that don't call for them and would cause harm. There was a fic where apparently prying Frigga from her weapons while giving birth is a death sentence. And that's just fucking ridiculous in the same way Frigga taking a baby Thor to battle in TLAT is.
I personally like stuff where Odin was the one to change Loki from Jotun to Asgardian. It just has a lot of implications that parallel medical abuse and/or neglect, which is an angle I'd like to see more regarding Loki. I remember seeing a book excerpt from those fancy concept art and such books from people trying to prove Frostmaster was cannon (bc apparently the chevron thing on his catsuit was to allow him entry according to said book).
But I can't find it anymore! I have a screenshot of the Frostmaster "proof" but I can't find the part where it pointed towards Loki's skin with the caption "blue skin turned white by Odin" or something like that. There's just something so sinister about it. Even if we try to interpret it as kindly as possible, Odin and Frigga lied about Loki's medical history, and his health was not important enough to reveal the truth. A lot of it violates Loki's autonomy in rather fucked up ways.
Can anyone tell me what book this is from? I thought I had screenshotted the other parts mentioning Odin being the one to induce the change on Loki but I can't find them in my sea of screenshots.
