Thank you so much for your asks, Baby! I love to answer all three asks for you. It’s always such a pleasure to see your name on my dash and especially in my ask box. Sending you lots of love to you, too, my amazing, talented friend!
#3 favorite line/scene you wrote this year
This is so not an easy question, Matt! But I go with the moment that just popped up in my mind when I read this line. There are a few scenes in the last stories I wrote that are very dear to my heart. But I’ve chosen the scene below because I’m still moved from the emotional moment when the words flew out through my fingers creating an emotional, vulnerable moment between Steve and Danny. A moment where Steve opens up ready to let Danny in on his fear and his love he feels for him. And this moment is also very precious because beneath the iron suit SEAL Steve wears all the time…beneath all these layers he’s just a man in love who’s so scared to not belong and anxious his longing won’t be answered.
The scene is taken from my story Are You Ready To Love Me?
Steve tries again. “Look, Danny, you always have a plan. You seem always to know where to go. You’re like my north Danny. If I lose track, I can’t focus because… I, uh, I have always followed you and it’s just… take me with you, Danny.” Steve’s sentence ends in a whisper. “Don’t leave me behind.” Steve turns his head to press his forehead to Danny’s head. “Don’t make me lose you.” Steve’s almost chokes on the last words.
#15 something you learned this year
Yeah, there are a few things I’ve learned this year. Patience - when I’m stuck and words don’t come easy I don’t stop writing. I move on, word for word and there’s always a thread I can follow. Even if the flow slows down and I struggle and swear I always get the job done. The story unfurls always at some point. My experiences have taught me to be patient and to work the problem.
Do not compare your work to other writers - there are so many incredibly talented writers out there. My writing is decent and I always want to be better, sometimes I think it’s not enough but I love to write. I’ve learned to write my stories, to let the guys have their universe the way I want them to have it, no matter what. That’s a process of about four years of hard work. It contains some sort of freedom. I still lapse but my base is more solid and it’s a good feeling.
I fall in love with my muse - I’ve learned to trust her and even if she seems fickle at times or even moody…she harbors the light I need so I can find my way through my inner maze to haul my stories from the depth to the surface and onto the screen. She’s a wild entity and she rules my inner world when it comes to writing. When I follow her lead writing is amazing because I feel the story and I make it to the finishing line. When I try to write following a schedule, not listening to my muse….the flow isn’t there, I don’t feel the guys and they don’t talk to me. My muse is my queen and I adore her deeply.
I protect my mind-babies - I got a few nasty comments this year. Readers, I haven’t seen around, they were kind of new, dropping a single, ass-long comment in my inbox, tearing my story apart, telling me what to do better, how to become a more serious writer, suggesting me another take on my story. Basically, saying to my face that I write crap. And…I’ve grown myself a solid mental backbone. I punch them verbally in the face, so freaking hard I make them choke on their shitty comment. They will never drop by again. No one has the right to use me as a springboard for their own inability to deal with their own inferiority complex. No one messes with my mind-babies.
#17 fics you’ll continue next year
There’s only one big project for 2020 and it’s going to occupy all year, maybe longer. It’s my sequel to my Highschool AU. It’s the second part: “My Soul Is Calling You Home”. God, how much I want to write that story. In the back of my mind, my heart always beats for my teenage boys….my muse is still tuning in because for two months already I’m kind of ready but my muse still needs time. I can feel how the story is shaping itself inside of my soul. It’s getting clearer. All my notes are ready, I have a lot of pages full of details I need to fill in in all the moments I’ve planned for this story. I’ve done my research, I know the opening scene of the first chapter. I know the way, I can see the path through all the adventures. I even know the end scene already. I’ve felt it, I’ve seen it and it’s going to be so freaking emotional. I’m ready, so ready…but my muse still needs time. And because I’ve learned to listen to my muse, I’ll wait until it’s time.
That’s why I’m writing a fix-it for 10.07. It’s in the making, almost done and there’s another short Christmas story that I can’t let go anymore. I have to get that done too but after that…yeah, I’m back to get the boys back together. The sequel will take months to finish but it’s going to be so freaking awesome!
Thank you again, Baby, for these fantastic questions and for your time to read my answers. All the love right back at you! xxx
