For the stocking stuffers: McBeck (SGA)
The Stocking Stuffer Series - McBeck
What McKay means to Beckett:
His clever idiot
Beckett means that with the utmost affection and exasperation. Rodney is brilliant, with a mind that just never quits, and a work schedule that never quits either. Just once Carson would like it if Rodney would not try to work himself into the ground. Just because he can grasp the concept quicker than the rest of the lab does not mean that he has to be the one to find the solution on his own.
Beneath all that bite and bluster, is a man that is bright and dedicated to the people in Atlantis and kind in his own barmy way, and Beckett can’t help but love him.
What Beckett means to McKay:
The only one to see through his bluff
McKay knows he can be… prickly and a bit rough to work with, but, no matter how many jabs he throws, Beckett never seems to get sick of him. Never seems to take him at face value. Instead everything just rolls of the Doctor and Carson always comes back to him.
No one has ever done that for Rodney before. Stood by him and looked through the walls he put between himself and the world, and seen him.
Beckett is always so cheerful and patient and nice in ways that Rodney wishes he could twist himself to be, and Rodney might just be bettered by the association.
Midnight tea breaks.
Rodney, in Carson’s considered opinion, is utterly shite at remembering to feed and water himself. Also at knowing when to call it a day, but Carson knows he’s throwing stones in glass houses there.
So, around midnight, Carson brings a kettle of hot water and a couple of sandwiches to Rodney’s lab. Rodney insists that the only reason he pulls himself from his work is so Carson will also take a damn break.
Rodney makes a cup of instant coffee and Carson brews a cup of tea, or what ever tea substitute the botany labs had concocted, and they spend the next half hour together.
Generally, they talk about their days, or what they’ve been working on, or plans for the coming days, but sometimes they just need to kvetch about the people love and live with. Carson is bound to have patients that ignore his orders and hurt themselves, and Rodney… Well, its better for him to vent his frustrations to Carson rather than the person involved.
Just a reminder, I’m doing Stocking Stuffers of 3 headcanons or 3 sentence drabbles for December! Send me characters, ships, or fandoms!
