After having previously confessed that the infection was her and Meicoomon's fault, Meiko didn't feel she had the right to go to the digital world with the others to reunite with their digimon partners after the reboot. However, she ended up regretting it and went to the meeting spot they had mentioned to travel with Himekawa's help, but she arrived late and they were already gone. Even so, Meiko managed to travel to the digital world, likely because some distortion opened a portal in that same location in the human world, allowing her to appear near her.
Once in the digital world, Sora and Piyomon found her in the desert. When they managed to sit down to rest and build a campfire in a safe spot, Sora told Meiko that Meicoomon still remembered her, which amidst the whole bad situation, brought her huge relief.
At nightfall, Meicoomon showed up at the camp and unleashed her rage against Meiko, attacking her and confronting her for abandoning her. Far from stepping away, Meiko kept approaching her. She told her that yes, she abandoned her because she misbehaved and thought things had gotten out of hand, but she assured her that she loved her just as she is, admitting that she was the one who acted wrong by hiding it from everyone and leaving her behind. In doing so, she finally managed to hold Meicoomon in her arms and reconcile with her.
Meanwhile, Huckmon revealed himself to Daigo Nishijima as the messenger of Homeostasis, the entity seeking balance between worlds. He explained to him that Gennai succumbed to darkness through Yggdrasil, who's trying by any means necessary to use "Libra", meaning Meicoomon. At that moment, Nishijima was transported to a data realm where he (likely) heard Homeostasis's voice warning him that Libra is an unknown entity and that if it falls into Yggdrasil's hands, the world will fall into destruction.
This entity that used the appearances of the Digimon Kaiser and Gennai to mess with the chosen and cause chaos in the human world confessed to the group that he acts according to Yggdrasil's will. In his view, humans and digimon shouldn't get involved with each other, but Homeostasis chose the kids and turned digimon into slaves by bringing both worlds closer together.
He also revealed that digimon who die in the digital world can be reborn in the Village of Beginnings, but those who die in the human world can't be revived, which is why the reboot becomes so important, as it allows the fallen to return.
However, Dark Gennai told them that the main goal wasn't just to bring back fallen digimon but to use Meicoomon as the key to destroy the world.
After those confessions, the kids unleashed their rage against Dark Gennai and managed to temporarily hold him back but when he realized that they had left Meiko and Meicoomon alone on the ship, Dark Gennai took advantage of that moment to go hurt Meiko with the direct intention of provoking Meicoomon. He knew that if Meicoomon gets scared or experiences intense negative emotions, she loses control and mutates, which is when she infects other digimon, creates distortions and unleashes chaos and destruction on the world.
The group managed to stop Mugendramon, but they failed to protect Meiko and Meicoomon, so Meiko got hurt, Meicoomon mutated into Maycrackmon, and in this tragic way, Loss comes to an end.

I felt sad seeing that Meicoomon really had no hope. Even if the group had rescued Meiko, was there actually a long term solution for her? Considering Yggdrasil wanted to conquer the human world and could unleash chaos through Meicoomon, he was never going to leave her alone. Plus, it's not like Meiko's bond could fully calm her down unless she was babysitting her like 24/7 in a super controlled environment. Maybe they could've thought of some solutions (like an exclusive server for her or something like that) but since Meiko never asked for help while telling the whole truth, there was no choice but to react to the situation. And it's not about blaming her either, she didn't walk the same path the group did in the digital world back in 1999, nor did she have the slightest idea about digimon, how powerful the others are, etc. Rather, as her father said, Meiko was carrying a burden that was simply too much for her.
Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself, but this is the point of no return for Meicoomon and it just makes me think about all of this.
