We met at a winter formal. She looked spooked. I never met her yet feel so safe when I see her. She wasn’t one to be in on the action. She was the one who would sit alone. Reading perhaps.

I remember the way he voice sounds. Like melted honey. Soft and sweet. Like her. She had a bracelet on her. It was decorated in flower charms. And the first glance I had of her was when the snow started to fall. She was my winter flower.

We became good friends through the years. She trusted me as I trusted her. She had this mask over it all though. She smiled around everyone, making them believe she was happy. But when we were alone, she rarely smiled.

She was cold. Like winter. Yet warm like a summer flower. I couldn’t be what she wanted so she went elsewhere. Date after date I stayed to help pick up the pieces that she had left behind.

She never noticed me when she met him. She completely forgot about my existence. He was the one though that’s for sure. Or so we both thought.

He had broken her. To a point where she was hollow. A weak smile emerged when she saw me that night. She smiled through the pain. He had left too many pieces that couldn’t be put back together.

A few weeks after the incident she had stopped eating. I didn’t think much of it at first. Until she fainted in my arms on the walk around the woods for a science project. She was cold. Like winter. And looked like a wilted flower.
