I cant get over the idea that there are Mandalorian customs and traditions and superstitions and lore that are completely unwritten. Not 'the Way', but engrained little things that every culture develops.

Little Paz, child-sized helmet still gleaming, his eyes just as bright beneath it. Tugging on the beskar and gloves of the elders, respectful but curious. Watching over the shoulders of the craftsman and caretakers, absorbing all of it with awe, taking it greedily, adorably, making it his own. Asking questions like it's his job, learning the tribe, the mannerisms and history, soaking it all in like a sponge.

Taking Din, quiet and nervous, under his wing, pretending he knows it all. A student, and then teacher, a big brother, a budding Mandalorian.

And Paz, your giant, sweet, well-meaning love, teaching you as best as he can.

Tugging you close by the fire, face of his helmet mashing your ear as he eagerly whispers context to the stories, almost wiggling with that same child-like excitement.

Staying up late, wishing this covert location could see the stars so he could share their legends while pointing to their equivalent heavenly bodies. Holding your hand, aching in his chest because his two favorite things in the world - you and his people, are colliding. It makes him feel full of warmth and strength and raw energy like he could protect those two things against a galaxy of armies.

He whispers that he loves you in Mandalorian into the darkness.

Paz, sharing the little traditional things, embossing them onto your heart, making you bit by bit more a part of his home, part of his people.

"Cyar'ika, you have to use this seasoning for dinner," He seems nervous that you havent, already, a little annoyed that he forgot to tell you.

"Okay, but... why?"

"It - well, Leanna, the woman I told you about, she," he's not actually sure, but he saw it, remembered it on this dish, every single time.

You smile, and he presses his chest to your back, reaching around and taking a pinch in his big fingers.

"See? Like this," he rumbles proudly in your ear.

And you do.

Paz, sometimes forgetting you're not one of them, expecting you to know something, or thinking something is normal, and his earnest, confused shuffling as he realizes.

You kiss at his chest, his neck, telling him silently but loudly that you need him. Your love, tilting his head, desperately pushing you away, hurt that you would try to seduce him at a time like this.

"Love, why are you being cruel?" His tone is gentle, but genuinely a touch upset. "Must you tempt me during the Clean day?"

"What?" You're dumbfounded, arousal forgotten as you stare at him. There's something in his words the way he says it, something in the stiffness in his shoulders and the way he glances ove this shoulder like someone is watching.

And he sees the confusion on your face, and realizes you dont know. How could you?

Scolding himself, he tells you on wash days before they go on a big mission, he's supposed to fast, to hold himself above distractions, clothes cleaning and mind clear so he can be prepared. And old ritual, used for warriors to be intentional about their last few days, and make boundaries if they were were in grey situations. Not particularly necessary, but... he likes to do things right.

He holds you close, promises when the sun sets you can have him all to yourself. He'll make it up to you, of course he will.

Paz, falling more in love with you every moment that he sees you remember, trying to learn, because you know how important it is too him.

He came home later than he meant, but earlier than he told you. Poor execution for a surprize, but he can hardly wait to see you, knows you wont mind waking up for a few hours if it means having him in your bed again. But when he walks in he sees a candle lit, blue, he notices, a letter half burned with words for his safety. He didnt teach you that one, a sharp ache in his heart realizing you mustve asked someone else.

You wished for his safety, did all the little things the other partners promised would help. You cared about him, enough to learn, and enough to do it. He knew you loved him, heard you say it, saw it even but... this was for when he wasnt hear. This was a private love, something you didnt know if he would ever see.

He wondered, as he woke you with wanton kisses and hands taking every inch of your body for his own, if it was too soon to ask you to marry him.

Paz, creating traditions for just the two of you.

"Did you know that you always bring me gifts in threes?"

Your Mandalorian hummed, pausing his mouth against your core, two fingers buried inside of you. Propping yourself into your elbows, you enjoyed the pause, the sharpness of overstimulation smoothing over.

"Everything in threes. Flowers, kisses, ration packs," you explained, and he chuckled, removing his hands and sliding them up your body, moving his mouth against yours.

He had never thought about it but it felt.. right somehow, like an unintentional cornerstone to your relationship.

"I guess we need another round, then," he said, eyes glinting.

As you moan in disbelieving affirmation, he tucks the knowledge away. A new custom, for him and you.

Because of that you never really thought he was good dating or marrying material even if he was fucking smoking hot and that voice? hot damn he didnt talk a lot but when he did? ooooof you are a gonner

But when a case brought the kiddo into his life? and he eventually adopted the little green eyed adorable boy?

omg it was like a whole new side of Din showed up

Really it had always been there, buried inside him like that file you kept asking for was under the STACK of paperwork he had on his desk

But know instead of only putting his care into just cases and tracking down criminals and killers to help keep others safe?

He has a little one of his own to protect and care for and love

There is also the ever growing collection now of photos of him and his kiddo on his desk, and toddler made art pinned up on his walls, and he doesnt live at the office on the weekends, and somehow seems happier even though he still seems just as tired from being a single dad?

What can I say but that him showing commitment outside of work is really fucking sexy

And of course you meet said kiddo at the next "Bright your child to work" day and his is a DELIGHT

But omg for sure that man does NOT make moves on you that would be considered to be moves until a super high stress situation

I mean he was always super attentive to you when you added your expertise in with meetings, made sure you were staying hydrated and fed during stressful long weeks working a hard case and such but you always wrote it off. Surely you were reading in to it too much, he def hadnt meant for his hand to linger on yours that long while handing you a cup of coffee... right?

But then you volunteered to help out in the field even though you weren't a field agent, you fit exactly what the team needed to try to bring in this suspected serial killer and you wanted to help

Of course things go a bit sideways, and your team lost sight of you

When Din had broken down the door with the rest of the SWAT team they found you and the man in the room. You a bit roughed up, and him doubled over on the floor with a bruised solar plexus, broken instep and nose, and also having been immobilized by a well-placed blow to the groin. You might be more a desk person, but you have your training and remembered it

Seeing you having the situation handled and you having your gun drawn on the dude? Din was heart eyes before but he for sure fucking knows it now

So when you do get bundled off in a warm blanket or coat, Din is making sure you are okay because that shit can be traumatic af so he makes sure you get home safe after the debrief

He hadnt MEANT to kiss you, and he pulls away pretty quick not wanting to overstep or be taking advantage of you

The dining room was full of patrons enjoying breakfast and making quiet conversation in the early morning rays. No one seemed to need your attention right at this moment, so you took the opportunity to stick your head through the order window to ask Phil for a favor. 

“Phil, can you put together a to go box for me before I leave today?” You asked sweetly. 

The big man cocked an eyebrow at you, “Breakfast for your scary boyfriend?” He asked. You knew he was joking, mostly. 

“He’s not scary, he’s just grumpy,” you laugh shaking your head. 

“Well he scares me, kid. What am I making for the to go box?” He scraped the grease off the flat top, and looked over at you awaiting your order. 

“Biscuits and bacon gravy, pretty pretty please!” You gave a big smile. Phil shakes his head, but goes to pull out a pan to make it anyway. 

You turned back to the counter to refresh people’s coffee, and seat a couple of people that just came in. You were looking forward to going home and getting some sleep, but you do enjoy this part of the work day. Everyone is relatively polite and quiet in the morning, and not a lot of people order pie. Which means any leftovers from the night shift are up for grabs for you to take home, so the glass case can be stocked up with fresh ones. There’s two pieces left, one cherry and one lemon meringue, perfect! 

The order bell tings behind you, and as Phil pushes a to go box through the window. You took the box with a smile and a thank you, and tucked it safely under the counter by the register.

Finally, the two day shift waitresses come through the door chatting away about this and that. You join their banter for a bit while boxing up the last two slices of pie, bid them farewell, and took your boxed goodies out to your car. 

The drive back to Boba’s house isn’t long, but it felt like it took a lifetime when your little car smelled of fresh baked biscuits and rich bacon gravy! When you pulled up in the back driveway, he came out to greet you. Wearing jeans and a plain black t-shirt, and no shoes. You stepped out of the car, and chastised him for walking on his bare feet on the pavement. He didn’t listen, he was far more interested in catching you by the waist and pulling you in for a kiss. 

“Good night at work baby?” He asked, breaking away from the kiss. 

“Very good,” you told him “two slices of pie left by sun up, our favorites” 

“Lucky day for us!” He joked, giving you one more kiss. He let you go, and went around to collect the to go boxes from the passenger seat, while you got your coat and purse. 

“Three boxes?” He asked, leading the way into the house 

“Brought my man breakfast,” you replied, hanging up your coat and kicking off your shoes. He set the boxes down on the kitchen table, and opened the biggest one to peak at what you brought him. 

“It really is my lucky day!” He exclaimed. Biscuits and gravy is his favorite. You joined him in the kitchen, and fell into his waiting arms “thank you baby,” You hummed into his chest, closing your eyes. You were beginning to feel sleepy, but didn’t want to admit it just yet. 

“Want me to stay with you while you eat?” You offered 

“No,” he answered “It’s bed time for you princess” 

“Are you sure?” You gave him just a little squeeze 

“Mhm, come on” he led you out of the kitchen and up stairs to his bedroom. You couldn’t even remember the last time you slept at your own apartment. Vaguely, you thought in the back of your mind, you should stay there at least a couple more times before your lease is up. Get your damn money’s worth. But not right now, not when Boba’s bed is right here, and you’ve got the man himself to snuggle with before he’s got to back down to the garage. 

Boba let you slip into the bathroom to wash your face, and tie up your hair. You peeled off the lemon yellow uniform dress, and threw it in the hamper by the bathroom door. Boba passed you the very old and worn Guns and Roses t-shirt of his you liked sleeping in, and slipped it over your head. 

You climbed in on your side or the bed, and closed your eyes waiting for him to come lay down with you. Suddenly the room got very dark, and your eyes snapped back open again at the sound of him closing the blinds. You sat up, and tried to get your eyes to adjust to the darkness. The bed dipped down beside you, and you felt him pulling you down on top of him. 

“Did you install new blinds baby?” You asked, quite sure they were not this light blocking yesterday.

“Paz’s damn cat got in here again, and got herself all tangled up in the blinds. Completely ruined them. I oughta make Paz pay for the new ones,” he grumbled, but you didn’t think he was serious about making Paz paying him back or really being that mad at Kitten. 

“She’s just a baby, she doesn’t know better,” you yawned. Boba’s large hand cradled the back of your neck, keeping your head in place on his chest as he rubbed slow comforting circles with his fingers. The darkness of the bedroom combined by being encased in his protective warmth, sleep pulled you under.
