- Max Schaaf FS Smith Oakland California Late 90’s - January always feels long and hard here in the UK but it’s those indoor skateparks that keep many people sane and able to cope through the winter. - Here we have Max Schaaf enjoying his very own indoor ramp back in the 90s in Oakland California. - This was used as part of a huge ‘ joiner’ that tried to depict the whole of Max’s warehouse that ran in Sidewalk magazine at the time. - My 13 year old was saying they were learning about ‘Hockney Joiners’ in art class the other day. It took me until my late twenties to discover and start to use it as a technique, much to the annoyance of the graphic designers at the magazine probably.
