when season one released, reddit was full of posts of people being like "am i the only one who hates maximus" and they would cite such idiotic reasons like how he put a blade in dane's boot EVEN THOUGH IT WAS LITERALLY SPELLED OUT AT THE END THAT IT WASN'T HIM! and that he was wrong to hate thaddeus for bullying him at base, he was wrong to let titus die even though titus was threatening and belittling him, a post saying that maximus was evil and sadistic (but the same person said that the ghoul was a pragmatist). i stopped following these subreddits because i was tired of it.

and now after season two released we're getting posts like "wow i really like maximus this season!!!" and i know i should be happy that people are finally appreciating him after seeing him being overhated last season but i can't help feeling resentful.

ever since the first season it was clear to me that maximus was a good and kind person at his core and that goodness was buried under years of abuse, hardship and seeing so little kindness around him that he became jaded.
