He spent 90 years with Max, learning and growing as a person before Max decided he was old enough to cope on his own. David is permanently 21, sure he was an adult but he stilled needed his father from time to time. And of course Max wasn't his actual father but they had spent so long together that the bond was there.

David thought that things would be better in 1964 when Max asked him to move to Vienna. He said that they would be a proper family but it just ended up in him working to support the household. They rarely saw each other as they were either at work or asleep, missing the other by mere minutes.

1968 repaired their relationship, somewhat. Max had purchased a store on the Santa Carla Wharf. He sold televisions and radios before eventually expanding to VHS tapes. Whilst David lived and worked with Max, Paul had found a place for him, Marko, and Laddie to stay. They would join Max and David on their hunts, always trying to convince him to move in with them.

By 1975, Max had convinced him to move in with them. It would ensure the order of the pack remained secure. It also allowed them to both work on their new projects. David would create a reputation for the group of twenty-year-olds as a gang. He was to create gang wars as a sustainable source of food. Max would focus on the Video Store whilst he looked for a mate.

When Dwayne and Star finally joined the pack, the hierarchy was cemented. Max was the priority, he protected them from the hunters and they provided him with kills. David came next, his role was to ensure Max's orders were acted out. He also had the authority to challenge him. Dwayne had the most experience so he followed David. He was the protector, not matter what form that came in. Paul and Marko were the same rank, they were hunters. They would entice the prey or cause a fight. It was their job to ensure the pack fed. Laddie was above Star - He had been a halfling for longer and had more control. They were both to be protected by the pack. Halflings could be a liability but it would be worth it.

Once Star arrived, Max arranged weekly dinners with her and David. He wanted to check in with his children and to soothe any disagreements, especially between the two. Instability could cause their whole system to collapse. If family evenings were the way to ensure their safety then David didn't mind, he missed Max when they were apart.

If it was the wheelers I have no doubt that man would murder Ted Wheeler and situate himself nicely into their little nuclear family. I also think he’d regret it immediately when Karen tried to fuck one of his sons but you win some you lose some.

The Byers god can you imagine? They move to Santa Carla instead of Lenora and they head to the boardwalk so Joyce can find a job and Max catches sight of her hugging El and ruffling Wills hair then pushing them towards Jonathan and when she comes into the store asking about a job he gives it to her because obviously. And then he finds out El is her step kid and her dad is out of the picture and he thinks score because look how compassionate this women is with kids who aren’t really hers.

The Hargroves ugh don’t even get me started. The first time he sees the boys pushing Billy around the boardwalk he thinks I thought I told them not to play with their food. But then it becomes a regular occurrence and by the time Max is unwilling tagging along, skating just a few feet behind the boys he thinks now that’s a picture perfect family, so he probes and finds out Neil is an abusive piece of shit and thinks perfect! I’ll kill him and marry Susan we’ll be one big happy family.

I’m serious. I even imagine Erica sassing the lost boys around and Max finding it absolutely delightful and thinking of course they need a younger sister. She’s a perfect addition to the family and Lucas is such a good kid.

The Lawrence siblings have existed for like what, 2.5 years now? And god they went through so many redesigns. Eliza is actually the third name the kid has. Yeah, I wasn't exactly satisfied with them for quite a while...

So, a bit of their world setting: pretty much your average Earth except for the fact that there are groups of people with superpowers randomly appearing here and there. They're called the anomalies. Experiments on the captured anomalies have shown that it has nothing to do with their genetics, but with a different kind of mutation caused by something... external. It is not quite clear what exactly causes people to become anomalies, but either way, they are not welcome here and governments hunt them down.

The anomalies are divided by multiple ranks determining their potential threat to people, with D-1 being the lowest and S-3 the highest. Everyone marked A-2 and higher is to be eliminated on sight. Usually the rank assigned upon the discovery of an anomaly stays the same up until the capture with rare exactions.

Cue the Lawrence siblings, one who's been a hacker way before becoming an anomaly, and the younger, just a regular kid, if moving every month or so with your sibling is considered normal. If their life was slightly shitty before, well, getting into a car accident and waking up with powers that mark a target on your back is definitely a way to make things go down even further. They had to run away, changing locations every time they're close to being discovered. Sometimes they move twice a night.

When they were finally noticed, Eliza's rank was determined as D-3 and Max's was A-1. Those were changed to B-2 and S-3 respectively in just three months.
