when someone says they're uncomfortable with something, stop it. Drop that conversation topic, quit doing that specific action, move out of that area - whatever it is that was making them uncomfortable, stop it! That's all you gotta do! No "oh but what if -" okay just. Stop it. Please.

Sometimes my mom does stuff that would probably be considered over-the-top for a traditional sitcom antagonist and I have to stop and wonder how the fuck my life got to the point where she's practically shouting (because she doesn't know what an Inside Voice is) casual conversation at the electricians trying to fix our breaker box about how all our dogs have died in the past while I'm trying to eat my goddamn breakfast three fucking feet away
