Will You Be My Valentine?
Summary:
Gavin was going to spend his Valentine's day alone again. Working at the empty grocery store as he watched couples walk by. Then he saw the mop of red hair and freckles on a face he was so happy to see. Maybe he won't be alone this time.

Ok so I've been reading some Mavin fluff today and found it super cute I wanna write some Mavin fluff so I'm taking requests for some one-shots. Any Mavin fluff will do, but I especially think hurt/comfort ones are the cutest. So yeah Gimme a mavin situation and I might write it! ( although there is one that is sorta popular -Gavin waking up from a nightmare and micoo comfort- that I might try without request. Still, lemme know if you want that or anything else)
Summary: In the office, in front of all the other Achievement Hunters, without a warning, during the Minecraft Let’s Play, Michael kisses Gavin. He might have the worst timing, but it was perfect.
Pairing: Michael x Gavin [Mavin]
Rating: Gen. Swearing/Cursing
Word Count: 800 +
A/N: My computer is broken. Well it works for a minute then stops working. Long story short: I am suffering. I’m stuck writing on my iPad and posting from my mobile phone. Writing long entries on an iPad is extremely difficult. Because I now lack the tools and mental stability, please accept my poorly written, typo riddled, anticlimactic fluff…if it’s even fluff. Feel free to punch my computer and I in the face. :)
It was random, sudden, and unexplainably the best moment ever. There are no obvious reasons as to why it happened, Gavin didn’t even see it coming. Maybe Michael just wanted to push Gavin’s buttons. Maybe he just wanted a reaction from the men in the room.
Whatever the cause, he was kissing Gavin now. Mid sentence, he hooked his arms around Gavin’s neck and brought their lips together. Suddenly it was lips, teeth and desperately grasping fingertips. Butterflies swarmed in the pit of their stomachs. The Brit’s head was spinning, trying feverishly to understand what the hell was happening. Seconds ago, they were focused on the Minecraft tasks that Geoff had sent them all on. The older man was circling the room, taking on the role of MC again. Everything was normal as they filmed the Let’s Play, but Michael was kissing him.
He’d just slain Gavin’s little creeper-skinned character in the game for the millionth time this game. With a quick smirk and a mischievously uttered ‘gotcha’ , Michael pushed his chair to Gavin’s and caught him in a kiss. Geoff’s jaw dropped to the floor, Ryan peered wide eyed from behind his make-shift set up on the couch, a large smirk spread across Ray’s face. Even Jack turned around from his house building to see the cause of the sudden silence. Jack’s breath caught in his throat before he began laughing. Ryan chuckled, then joined in the bearded man’s gleeful laughter. Ray was next to add to the storm of giggles. Geoff cleared his throat into the mic.
"Er, we uh, fucking got some official Mavin action. These two dickheads are making out instead of mining, literally." Geoff shook his head then continued walking around the room as everyone returned to the game, besides Michael and Gavin.
Michael separated the kiss and looked at Gavin with heavy-lidded eyes.
"Michael, why’d you do that?" Gavin frowned in confusion.
"Because…I got you." He laughed.
"But-"
"Well?" Michael asked.
"What?"
"Well, are you gonna get me back?" He taunted, though he meant what he said.
"But, Michael…" Gavin whined.
"Get me back." Michael returned to the game, moving his character in circles around Gavin’s whilst making gurgling noises. Gavin went through his inventory and took out a wooden sword to ‘get’ Michael with. Michael bursts into laughter at the lame choice of weapon.
"Shut up! I know the bloody sword sucks, but it’s all I’ve got because you just keep killing me!" Gavin retorted. "Just hold still and let me kill you."
"You wanna kiss me that bad?" Michael teased. "You just want to get it over with so we can kiss?"
"I didn’t say that…" Gavin’s ears turned a shy rouge.
"Come get me, you fuck." Michael grinned, moving his character. He made it run off into the distance. Gavin cursed under his breath as he followed. The chase went on for several minutes, ending with Gavin accidentally running into a cactus and killing himself. With a defeated groan he tossed his controller. The office erupted with laughter. Michael rolled his eyes. "You fucking dumb! Fine, you respawn and I’ll hold still."
"Really?" Gavin tried not to sound so hopeful.
"Just do it." Michael nodded.
"If you guys wanna kiss just do it. This obviously has nothing to do with Minecraft." Ryan spoke into his microphone.
"I agree with Ryan. For fuck’s sake, kiss him back already so we can get back to this Let’s Play. You are being paid for this you know?" Geoff groaned, though he found this all adorable.
"Yeah, seriously." Ray commented, parkouring his character around the placed blocks. Jack and Ryan remained silent, but kept their eyes on Team Nice Dynamite. With a large embarrassed sigh, Gavin turned Michael’s chair with his foot then pulled him close. Michael bit his lip shyly, peering at Gavin with soft chocolate eyes.
"Hi, Gavin." He smiled.
"Shut up, you dope."
Gavin closed his eyes as he leaned forward, holding the back of Michael’s head, guiding their lips towards each other’s. He laced his fingers in the spirals of red hair as they connected. The kiss began to deepen, Michael released a sharp breath of air through his nose as he reached up to hold Gavin’s stubbled face. The office was quiet other than the sound of small kisses being traded and Ray’s semi-high-pitched squealing. Jack, having seen enough, turned back in his chair to face his screen again. Ryan brought his eyes to Geoff, motioning towards the pair then pointing to his watch, signaling that they should probably really get back to the game. The boss nodded then turned back to Michael and Gavin.
"Alright, alright." Geoff laughed. "Enough face sucking. Back to work!" He pulled the back of Michael’s chair, separating the two. Geoff pushed Michael to his desk. A sea of tension ridding laughs filled the office. As they continued the Let’s Play, every once in a while, Michael and Gavin would catch eyes and they’d blush like mad, both of their hearts still racing.
[He'd say he does haven't a favorite. But he does]
[I like delicate mix of angst and fluff. Sue me]
But he'll think about it. He'll go to bed Tuesday night, alone. Wake up Wednesday morning, alone. He'll think its neither of them.
He'll go drinking Thursday night with Gavin and Geoff. They won't get too fucked up, but he'll still shove the Brit against a brick wall, kiss him until they're both light headed. They'll blame the alcohol for that and Geoff won't believe it but they'll all pretend. He'll think maybe that's it.
But he'll go to sleep alone, and know that it's not.
He'll wake up Friday morning slightly hungover. He'll scream at Gavin for screaming. He'll drink too many red bull and make a damn fool of himself. He'll have lunch with Gavin and issue a half-assed apology for screaming earlier. Gavin will look him in the eye and remind him for the millionth fucking time that it's ok, he understands. He'll look just a second too long so that in case Michael's had a stroke in the last week, he'll remember it means more.
They'll record another let's play and he'll laugh his ass off. Everyone will joke about him and Gavin fucking. His laugh will last a beat longer than it should. Gavin's will fall short.
When he goes to leave, Gavin will catch up to him in the parking lot, ask for a ride.
Sometimes he says yes. When he does, they go to Michael's apartment. When he says no, Gavin laughs it off, says it's fine, he'll catch a ride with Geoff. It still ends too soon.
This week he'll say yes because he still hasn't found a good day. They'll go home and make small talk until Michael breaks and kisses him. They'll stumble upstairs to the bedroom, tripping over steps and shoving each other against the walls. It's a faux fight for control. They both know Michael's calling the shots.
But not really. He'll lose himself in skin and heat and Gavin. He has no actual control anymore, not where he wants it. Not over his mouth, from which Gavin's name will spill so many times he'll lose count in the first five minutes. Not over his hands, which will hold him so tight and close it physically hurts. Not over his mind, which will urge him to pull Gavin closer.
Least of all the fucking feelings inside that will make him pray it never stops. Or the ones the remind him that he doesn't mean sex.
It will end just off of simultaneous, Gavin breaking first. (But that's their whole relationship in a nutshell, isn't it? Gavin just a little bit more invested?)
Friday night will turn into Saturday morning, and Michael will think Friday has to be his favorite.
They'll spend Saturday together, swimming and drinking and not doing much of anything. But they'll act like morons and laugh until they can't breath. This time nothing's too long, nothing's too short.
Gavin will sleep at Michael's again, but they'll actually sleep.
He'll still like Friday more.
They'll wake up on Sunday, but they won't go anywhere. They'll stay in bed, alternating between sex and just holding each other and watching dumb movies on Netflix. They'll talk.
Gavin will giggle a bunch, but so will Michael because he's damn cute. He won't get angry at himself for thinking it this time.
He'll chuck Gavin's boxers across the room then tell him to go put them on because he's too distracting otherwise. Gavin will try but never get them on because Michael will start laughing, will say that's exactly the kind of distraction he's talking about.
He'll pretend to get upset, and Michael will pretend he's serious, but ultimately they'll just settle the debate by having sex.
They'll order Chinese delivery and Michael will fall asleep with Gavin pressed against his chest.
He'll still think it's probably a tie with Friday.
But when he's alone again on Monday, he'll think of Sunday.

Either they go out and see a new one, or they stay at Michael’s apartment and watch Netflix from the comfort of the bed. (Or let’s face it, it’s their bed, their apartment because ninety percent of Gavin’s shit is strewn around the place and he hasn’t even slept at the Ramsey’s in over a month.)
They call it movie night because there’s always popcorn and there’s always somebody famous working to fuck up the life of another famous person on a big screen in one form or another. But truth be told, they never really watch.
Movie night starts the same way every time: an hour of debating whether they should go out or stay in. What’s good in the theater? What’s good on Netflix? When they get sick of arguing over the correct spelling of ‘theater’ they say ‘fuck it’ and flip a coin. (They never even start debating probability because Goddamnit, Gavin, you are not going to bring that shit up again.)
Movie night ends the same way every time, too: hard kisses and wandering hands and never seeing the second half but seeing so much more of each other. (One time Michael enlists Ryan’s help to figure out how much money he’s wasted on movies they left early and uneaten popcorn. When he gives Gavin the total, the Brit laughs and promises to pay back every cent. Michael kisses him because he’s too damn cute when he laughs. He wants to be mad.)
Gavin never pays him back even when the next movie ends after a half hour and they find themselves in the backseat of the car sitting in a parking lot.
(When Michael brings it up, Gavin only laughs and kisses him again.)
Summary: Gavin is a bit confused and sad for some reason after the Extra Life Live Stream. Based on a prompt I wrote: I really want someone to write a fic where Gavin is really upset that Michael left before the Mavin kiss and things get cute and fluffy.
Word Count: 3077
Warnings: Umm fluff... and swearing. But I don't think that's surprising.
A/N: I realized I wanted to write it myself! Sorry if any of the timing of events was off. It was late when I watched it and I was tired plus I didn't write this until a few days after. It was originally going to be short but somehow it turned into 6 pages. oops. Enjoy :) and I love feedback.
"I mean I'll kiss Gavin for a hundred and twenty-five thousand!"
All in all, this was what the fans loved, so of course it was entertaining. Gavin smiled at the idea and agreed lightheartedly, knowing that it would bring in plenty of money for Extra Life, as was the whole point of Rooster Teeth's 25 hour live stream.
They weren't joking, exactly; It was for a good cause in the end, so why not? Now that it was out there, Gavin didn't plan on taking it back and the blonde assumed Michael wouldn’t either, knowing his dare-devilish personality.
They were still a ways away however, and to a certain degree Gavin was dreading the money coming in, but he worked through it knowing it was all for the kids. The Brit was only apprehensive because within a couple thousand dollars, he'd be forced to eat hot sauce. Extremely bloody hot hot sauce. Lovely. Other than that, everything was awesome.
Michael stood behind the camera for a while longer, having done so much for the charity as it was. Gavin was really proud of what they'd done and of what his boi had offered up without remorse and without real thought. Gavin felt like it was time to do something for the cause other than wearing his Vav suit, which yeah, looked amazing - and probably brought in plenty of viewers since he looked quite sexy if he did say so himself - but he wanted to help the others out and get a few laughs along the way.
When the time came to offer himself up for a little hardship as the sum read 90 000 dollars raised, Gavin stepped up to the garbage can, which was filled with Michael's hair and his own nervous stomach. Figuratively speaking of course.
He was handed the spoonful of hot sauce and cringed visibly at the smell, already willing to back out but as Michael watched from behind him, Gavin felt like he shouldn’t back down. He was doing this for charity after all. He admired Michael so much in those moments for his strong stomach and lack of uneasiness, so he took the spoon, watching as Michael waited, getting ready to laugh.
"I really don't want to do this," he cried to anyone that would listen. Gavin pushed through it knowing that once he was passed this - and whatever other shit they got through - they could raise more money and get closer to their goal and to some fun times joking around.
He began to put the spoon into his mouth. So… the hot sauce was really bloody hot, hotter than he expected. And, yeah, he barely even took any, instead only having some slide across his tongue and lips. It still freaking hurt, burning immediately and unleashing little cries of pain from the blonde. He grabbed the milk as quickly as it came to him and poured it into his mouth over and over, spilling it all over the place.
The office burst out laughing, Michael putting a hand over his stomach as he keeled over at the sight in front of him. Gavin was a bit of an idiot, and he knew it -Michael told him daily. But it hurt! He paused his efforts in calming the burn after a couple of minutes of him rinsing his mouth with milk and spewing it into the garbage. He still had the white liquid dripping down his chin when Michael came behind him, stealing the milk away with his fingers. Gavin grinned to himself, thinking his boi delightful but his tongue still hurt and the smile was wiped from his face as the need to drench his mouth came.
It took a while to calm the flames on his tongue but he finally managed, however his lips were still red and puffy when he returned to the set. Michael snorted at the other male, clapping him on the back, while both boys stayed behind the cameras. Gavin wasn’t sure what was going on at the moment, since he missed most of the last ten minutes but as he looked around, he noticed the set was bare comparatively and a drunk Burnie had appeared on the couch, acting like drunk Burnie always does; wobbly and a little giggly.
Michael was making his way back onto the set and a buzzed Gavin followed behind the Rage Quit gamer. They stood side-by-side behind the empty chair next to Burnie who, in his drunken state, was yelling at the camera man to shoot the bromance boys only. According to him, no one wanted to see their boss. Viewers only wanted Mavin.
"In twenty-five thousand you'll be seeing more of this!" Michael shouted, sticking his tongue out and wiggling it at Gavin who could only follow suit, playing silly with his best friend like he loved to do.
Sure it was just for donations but Gavin would still do it, still do the kiss, even if Michael had just been kidding. He didn't really mind. Okay Gavin was a bit tipsy but he still had a head on his shoulders, he told himself. It was just plenty of fun being ridiculous with Michael.
He smiled at his boi, earning himself a smile back. And yeah tonight was a good night.
~~~
"We have to go now," Michael whispered to him. "Lindsay says it's time to leave, so were gonna say goodbye to everyone."
And Gavin's heart sank a bit. Michael was going before they even reached the 125 000 mark. Sure, the people watching would probably understand, even if they were a bit disappointed, but Gavin felt his heart tug a bit in his chest as an almost empty feeling mixed with sadness washed over him.
"Okay," he said. But he was upset, no matter how he tried to hide it. He knew Michael could see the sadness in his eyes, but the Brit was sure neither of them understood why it laid there.
After Michael and Lindsay left, Gavin didn’t go back on camera. He stayed behind the scenes and ended up leaving shortly after, claiming it was time for him to head out as well. He didn’t understand his sudden melancholy, but he left, Vav suit still on his body, and the night still on his mind.
The British boy soon made it home and threw himself into his bed, pulling the blankets over his head and ignoring the suit that was still on his body. He felt.. disappointed, upset, a bit torn, and he really didn’t get it.
Maybe it was just that this part of him wanted to show the world how funny and kooky he and Michael were together. Maybe that was it. Maybe Gavin wanted to show the world, and perhaps the others, how easy the friendship between the two was.
It was weird. But it was clicking.
Gavin was upset. And it was because he missed out on the chance to kiss his best friend on a live stream for the whole world to see.
"Well, bollocks."
Sleep didn’t come so easy that night
~~~
No, they didn’t have work the next day. And no Gavin didn’t see Michael. He chose to spend the day at home, sleep for a good part of the day for what he missed out on the night before, and play video games with the Ramsey's. It was fun. And it was nice not to be stuck in his own head for a little bit.
~~~
That is until Monday rolled around and Gavin got up, refreshed from the weekend and happy, heading to work with Geoff.
The Brit plopped down in his chair upon arrival, starting up his computer and getting all the software required for the next few hours up and ready before everyone showed up.
Jack came first, still incredibly tired from organizing and being on the live stream for basically the whole show yet still early, followed by Ray and soon Ryan. Michael walked in around five minutes later, coffees in hand, wishing everyone a happy Monday and a congratulations on the success of the Extra Life Live stream and the donations they'd managed to gather.
He was such a cute bugger and Gavin smiled, greeting him with a delighted "Ma boi!" Michael replying with "Hey Gavvy" and a smile on his face and in his voice. Gavin felt that tug in his chest again seeing the way Michael's eyes lit up and how they shone in front of him.
Bollocks. His own smile instantly fell from his face as he felt himself wishing to grab Michael and hold him and cuddle him and everything him. The shaved-head lad quickly noticed the change, the smile falling from his face as well.
"C'mon, Gavin," he whispered to him, pulling the British boy out into the hallway behind him. Gavin wasn’t sure where they were going, but he followed anyway, knowing that Michael saw something was up, and Gavin couldn’t bring himself to hide it, feeling his heart ache a little bit like something was missing from him.
Michael had stopped moving and stood before a small doorway, which was one of the offices closets. He turned to look at Gavin.
"Gav, what's wrong? Are you okay?" The shorter boy was looking intently into the blonde haired male's eyes, putting a casual hand on Gavin's arm.
Gavin stood silently, unsure of how to answer but not going to lie. He didn’t really understand it himself, but he knew Michael and he recognized that the other boy may call him names and throw slurs at him, but when it came to the serious stuff, things like the way Gavin missed home, when he felt insecure, Michael listened, and didn’t throw judgement. He knew Michael may not understand how he was feeling at that moment, but as Gavin had just thought, neither did he.
He didn’t know how to word it, how to spit what was on his mind into the world. His mouth hung open, sputtering little noises between breaths. Saturday. Saturday. Saturday, was all he could think; no way to explain the weird tug in his chest, that weird ache forthat missed chance that he had so closely gotten.
"Mi-cool," he said nearly under his breath, Michael's name a whisper and Gavin's accent thicker with his timidity. Michael nodded, waiting. "Re-remember Saturday? And- and that umm- thing you said?" Fuck. "About the kiss?" he clarified. Michael stood there, still waiting, no understanding clear just yet.
"Did that bother you, Gav?" the shorter of the two said in a rushed tone, worry in his voice and in his eyes.
Gavin sighed, pulling a hand at his already mussed hair. "No. Not exactly." He was screwed but it was pretty much now or never, so Gavin clenched his eyes shut and opened his mouth, already awaiting the verbal vomit to be thrown from his mouth. "It's just been bothering me because- because sausage. We never actually got to it and like I didn’t know but there's just something that’s making me so confused and I've been thinking about what it'd be like to kiss you and I'm really messed up but I just want to… well I want to kiss you, and I'm mullered."
Michael stayed quiet, but his gaze was fixed on the boy in front of him, eyes searching every part of this silly, ridiculous British boy's features for anything - anything - but there was only honesty. Gavin looked down at the floor, ready to step back from the state they were in and feel embarrassed and awkward and awful for days afterward. But…
"Okay," Michael said simply, murmuring, breathless, the surprise so clear on his features.
Gavin's eyes snapped up, shock and awe and disbelief washing over every emotion he'd ever felt up until this point. His expression was written with confusion, incredulity, but at the same time the apprehension of ruining this. Whatever 'this' was. "O-okay?" he questioned, tentatively, wringing his hands out, so unsure of everything, himself, his sanity.
And this time it was Michael's turn to be at a loss for words, nerves pinched and taught. He ran a hand over his head, now lacking the hair that had once brought him such comfort in tugging at moments like this. "Sh-shit, uh- yeah. Yeah, I mean- okay."
They looked at each other for a few seconds, neither knowing whether they should make the first move or not. They heard voices down the hall, no sign that anyone was actually coming in their direction but the reminder that there were other people in the office; many watching eyes.
Michael smiled shyly, biting his lip ever so slightly. The weight of the situation dawned on Gavin so that everything in those moments was heightened, every sense peaked with the rushing in his chest. Michael reached for Gavin's wrist, fingers grazing the skin there and sending minuscule tingles that shot like fire along his arm, his hand, his fingers. Michael's tug sent both of them trampling into the storage closet, shutting the door behind the two. Though Gavin knew what would bring him happiness, neither made a move at first, Michaels usually boisterous personality now that of a small mouse, caught and unsure.
So Gavin raised his hand upwards, fingertips reaching for the pale skin of Michael's face, speckled with pigment, blushing with his recent accord to Gavin's own confession. His heartbeat crashed in his ears, but some part of Gavin screamed at him that it was now or never; he wouldn't get another moment to understand the thoughts that had been swirling his brain so recently. Michael was agreeing to something so utterly insane and Gavin knew it was for the British boy's own sake that his friend said yes at all.
Michael smiled up at him as Gavin's fingers sent shivers down his spine, Gavin's features turning to mush, his face crumpling with lust, a sigh pushing from his lungs. This was it. He pulled his fingers down Michael's cheek, slipping along his neck gently so that shivers wrought the short haired boys figure all over again.
Michael's hands slowly, unsurely, made their way to the bottom of Gavin's shirt, gripping and tugging at the material nervously, just so he had something to hold onto, to ground him. His face peered up at the taller boy, both ridden with all the unanswered questions of either of their universes colliding, asking each other over and over what would happen now. What might happen later. And it wasn’t as if either of them had answers; the two were just scared, tentative, unmoving, until finally Gavin, searching Michael's features, leaned down slowly to mere inches from Michael's lips. Michael felt the warm, gentle breath ghosting across his mouth.
Gavin stilled, his heart exploding in his chest as nerves struck him motionless, Michael just inches from himself, their breaths intermingling, heat coasting along their faces and the scent of each other everywhere. When finally, Michael leaned in, closing the space so slowly that Gavin saw every shiver of his features as he leaned in, every movement of his eyes as he looked up at the British boy. Michael's motions finally sent their lips melding together, dampness and warmth meeting as Michael's lips pressed gently to the other boy's.
The blonde's heart exploded in his chest, feeling as though his chest would burst, his eyes would tear, because Michael's lips were touched against his, the cute pink forms caressing and feeling nervously.
The two boys had closed their eyes, the moment overwhelming and surprising, wondering how they'd gotten to this point. But at the same time, they didn’t think anything because there was nothing else.0 Especially for Gavin, when he had his lips pressed against his boi's - his best friend's - and his hands fitted around Michael's sweet waist. Michael's hands pressed hard against his own chest, gripping Gavin's shirt, but not forcing or moving.
The broke apart, not huffing for air, not gasping for any breath, but smiling, happy and surprised, because it had been warm, and calm, and sweet.
Gavin released a sigh, a kind and genuinely content smile set into his features, the skin around his eyes crinkling while they themselves shone.
"Thank you," he whispered, so much honesty in those two words that he felt was impossible to convey. This wasn’t just some silly thing. This was something that had confused Gavin so thoroughly, left him so completely unsure of himself, and he hadn't even realized until Michael showed him, allowed Gavin to try. He didn’t understand why Michael agreed, why he'd said yes, but Gavin was grateful, and he needed the other boy to understand that.
But Michael just shook his head, and burst of air coming from his lungs as he smiled up at Gavin. He laughed, one small little laugh that sounded more like air again, and answered. "It.. was nothing. I'd been sort of… well wanting something to happen since Saturday night I guess. Curiosity I guess, fuck." But the other boy smiled up at him, biting his lip, with such contentment etched on his features. It was really bloody cute.
They giggled, smiled, and finally stepped out from the closet, a secret on their minds, stolen glances for the rest of the day, and ghost kisses still on their lips.
And later, if they stole a few more kisses here and there, they didn’t say anything to anyone. But what had started from a ridiculous offer to bring in donations had turned into the possibility of something else, with both boys scared, both anxious, both worried about ever telling anyone. But it was there. And so they'd finally let themselves feel it, before they even thought about letting anyone else.
