#mauveine

mauveine was a chemical accident by a dude trying to find a malaria cure, and was actually what made purple widely available to the public instead of just church and royalty. (unfortunately it also posed some long term health issues, being potential carcinogens when dumped in the river water.)

so if you’re looking for a word for a dark pinky-purple and it’s not violet, then it’s mauveine :)

 Teal’s immediate family; from left to right:

Teal - You know her, you love her, she’s a kleptomaniac with striped tights and knee high boots. She works behind the counter of a skeevy pawn shop, under her current “boyfriend” Edward. She provides for herself and her younger sibling, as they share an apartment together in one of the less populated areas of Toad Town.

Mauveine - Teal’s mother who lives (with Forest) in a small village a ways away from Toad Town. Mauveine volunteers in a local soup kitchen, cooking and providing food to those in the village who don’t have it. She’s a wonderful cook, and all the village children have taken to referring to her as “Mom”.

Forest - Teal’s father who works in the mines in Shy Guy Falls -- the same mines that provide metals and minerals to the rest of the kingdom. He works hard and endlessly sometimes days at a time. His coat and pants are torn as a testament to his hard work; and his hood was ripped in half (revealing the fact that he has very long hair).
