pairing: Matt Dad Murdock x Blind Daughter x you
warnings?: literally fluff. i mean, maybe some pain?? if your allergic to emotion, I do not reccomend.
She was seven when it happened.
Two years younger than Matt.
Two years less to see the world, but seven years more then some had ever gotten.
Once you were pregnant with Matilda, the doctor told you and Matt that she would be prone to blindness, though, this didn't necessarily mean that she would come out blind, since Matt wasn’t blind because of his genetics... it was just a warning.
When daughter was born and her eyes were perfectly clear. They were round and big likes Matt's, the two were nearly twins. For seven years, she saw you and Matt as parents, she saw the three of you share seven christmas's, she saw seven thanksgivings and seven birthdays. She acted like a ‘normal’ kid. She went to school during the day, and wondered why her dad wasn’t home at night.
She didn’t know Matt had heightened senses, she thought it was weird that he didn’t use his cane around the town home you and Matt bought, or really didn’t need to figure out where everything was around the home.
Matilda got picked up from school by y/bsf/n like any other day. She wore her pink tutu and a graphic tee that read, ‘GIRL PWR’. Her hair was swooped up in two pigtails, and that morning you and Matt both noticed how she put extra cap stick on to make her lips glossy.
You had an early morning meeting and y/bsf/n offered and you and Matt agreed that it would be fine. You and Matt kissed your daughter goodbye, like normal, and the both of you headed out.
fast-forward a couple hours later, Matt and Foggy were writing out opening statements when Matt heard his daughter's screams echo through Hells kitchen, she was on the side of the road just like he was. her scream pierced through his ears then he nearly felt blood drip down his neck.
He quickly got up from his chair, foggy said, “Matt, what’s wrong buddy?”
He picked up her location,
“its Matilda” whispered Matt as he got up from his desk.
“What happened?” asked Foggy as matt rushed out the door. though, time didn’t allow Matt to respond.
As Matt ran through the roofs of hells kitchen, he called you.
“Hey Matt,” you said as you got out of your meeting.
You heard him groan as he jumped over the buildings, “Hun, everything okay?”
“its Matilda,” said Matt as he jumped. Your heart skipped a beat, “Hun, what’s wrong?” you asked.
“I don’t know, she’s screaming, she’s… she’s in pain”
your heart dropped, as well as your books when you said, “Matt, tell me she’s okay.”
he passed as he stood on top of the building with the nearest fire exit, “i’m almost there, go to the market, and just by it she should be there”
As matt practically jumped down the staircase, as he unfolded his cane, he went out the door.
he heard sirens, people crowded around his little girl.
Her scream echoed everywhere, he heard something happen with the atoms in her system. Suddenly some of them were collapsing.
“Sir, I’m going to have to stop you there,” said a security guard, though Mahoney caught sight of Matt and screamed for him to come to her.
Matilda laid on the ground, yearning for relief but only got a half trained paramedic to tell her to keep calm.
Matt brushed over the crowd of people and found his daughter, kneeling on the floor, Matildas cries fell to the concrete floor.
“Honey,” said Matt as his hands went tucked her hair behind her ears, “Honey its me”
“Dad!” cried Matilda as she tried to wipe her eyes, “dad!” she cried as matt threw his cane to the side and embraced her.
The smell of fish oil and copper filled his nostrils as he got closer to her. “dad,” said Matilda in a cry, “Dad, I can’t see”
“Sweetheart, it's okay” whispered Matt as he tightened his embrace around the girl, “honey stay with me, it's okay”
her tears soaked his suit jacket, so did the gas that glazed her face.
Your threw your heels on the ground as you got closer to the scene, you threw your purse ont he ground as you approached the crowd of people. Several security guards held you down but you screamed, “THAT IS MY FUCKING DAUGHTER IN THERE YOU BETTER LET ME THE HELL IN!”
They didn’t let you in, but Mahoney saw you nearly slap the police officer, and then he let you in.
As you walked in, you saw Matt hugging Matilda, she was in tears.
As you looked down to your daughter, you noticed her silver pupils.
“christ,” you whispered as you knees dropped.
“Baby” you whispered as you came closer, “its mommy babe, i’m here”
you daughters body shifted t your voice but almost hugged the air. you grabbed onto her empty arms as she whispered a cry, “mommy…”
your hands patted over her hair “mommy I can’t see” she whispered, “i can’t see”
“baby, breathe, okay?” you said, as you attempted to calm her down. You had no heightened senses, but you knew her heartbeat was off the charts.
Now, months later, Matilda has gotten used to being blind, but her new... 'powers' have been a bother.
As you wash the dishes Matt slips his tie on and Matilda sits on the common table eating her breakfast.
As you looked over to your daughter, the hot water that when over your hands caused the glass slip out of your hands.
The glass crashed down on the base of the sink and then Matilda sensed picked up on every bit of glass that fell down not he sink, through the garbage disposal and even the ones that rested on your hands. She lost her balance, causing her to fall off the chair and yearn in pain as the sound increased. “Matilda—“ you said as you wiped your hands down on your jeans, “baby” you said as you got down on your knees to her, Matt now coming to the two of you.
she covered her ears, and slowly counted sheep.
“one sheep two sheep, three sheep, four sheep” whispered Matilda as she rocked.
“Matilda, what’s wrong? please tell mommy?”
You glanced up towards Matt, pressing your lips to a fine line you said, “Honey, why don't you get up”
“Too much..” whispered Matilda as she continued to rock, “noise”
Your brows knotted, and glanced back at Matt, “baby why don’t you stand up—“
“no!” said Matilda, “you dont understand mom, you’re not blind!”
Your hands went up, Matt then looked over to you and you two reached an agreement. This was his area to cover.
Matt then placed his arms around her and said in a gentle tone, “Matilda…”
“No dad! I hate this,” she got up as the noise began to fade, “I hate being blind, I hate hearing everything, I HATE THIS!”
Tears streamed down her face as she covered her clear pupils with her palms. “Sweetie…” whispered Matt as his hands tucked her hair behind her ears. “No dad!” said Matilda, “I hate all of this! i want to remember how mommy looks, i want to remember how you look, but I can’t daddy, I can’t!” Her sobs covered her voice. your heart shattered as you saw Matts arms cover over her and her eyes close shut once her head rested on his chest. “You can,” said Matt as he patted her hair down, “just concentrate.”
“concentrate on Mommy,” said Matt, “are you?”
Matilda nodded, “what do you smell from mommy?”
“The beach” said Matilda, “she’s crying… I can smell the beach?”
“Thats it” said Matt, “now, what do you hear?”
for a second, Matilda concentrated only hearing her mothers heartbeat and the rest of the world fading.
“a fast tump” said Matilda with a smile, “is that mommy’s heart?”
“yes.” said Matt with a grin.
he contend to part her back nd said, “y/n, spin”
a weird command for sure, but you did it.
“you hear that?” asked Matt.
“mommys wearing a skirt?” asked Matilda as she imagined the silk skirt flow in the air.
“yes,” said Matt as a smile stretched across his lips, “What color?” asked Matt.
“color?” asked Matilda as she bit her tongue.
“concrete on the smell two, d. sf mommy’s skirt, what does it smell like?”
“my black dress” said Matilda as her Adeline began to spike, “Its smells like Black!”
“thats it” said Matt with Praise as she pulled her away from her chest, “you’ll get better. in no time you’ll see everything.”
“are you sure?” asked Matilda.
you looked over at the two, and both were staring in off directions, and their eyes barely connecte
he grinned back oat her and said, “yes angel, I’m sure.”
