Matt's parents — despite the love and care we are told they give when capable — are usually absent from Matt's life due to their work, hence depriving Matt of the emotional support and care he needs for him to properly develop, effecting his learning/maturity and knowing how to navigate through stuff involving proper solving and relationships as a whole. And that isn't even including the fact he constantly was moving around, which ALSO ended up depriving him of stable, long-term relationships/friendships with other peers, causing him in later years (Eg., when he moved to America) to struggle with forming said connections and have a significantly poorer social life and understand with social cues.

You can see within skeet and his relationship several of these factors at play

Eg..,, Matt's obvious habits of clinging to skeet like a lifeline, going as far as to let skeet walk all over him, struggling to defend himself because

1., he lacks the proper knowledge of how to navigate around issues requiring problem-solving skills and experience from previous long-term relationships., hence causing him to have a difficult time with friendships, especially involving more serious cases such confrontations and fights

2. Due to his chronic loneliness; has a habit of letting people walk all over him in hopes of not losing them; as in most cases (skeets case), they are all he has.

3. He is less mature than other people around his age; again playing into the fact he has been through emotional neglect and deprivation of a stable social life + long-term relationships..and again,, playing into the fact he struggles with proper communication skills ..

Both of their home life's effect how they interact with each other, NOT just skeets. Matt was clearly suffering,
