!!! What was that first ✨️inspo with wraith John? ♡
Yet another rewatch of the episodes Conversion and Common Ground. What can I say? The bug!John gifspam of @sga-mcshep-4ever was inspiring enough to start me on a let's watch all the episodes where John gets angst/whump piled upon him spree. So there's this quote from Todd I'm sure we all know very well. But oops, my brain has lashed onto it big time on this rewatch... 😉 The gift of life is reserved only for our most devout worshipers… and our brothers. What if... hmmm. Because Todd was imprisoned for long enough that he couldn't tell John for how many years. And wraith are hive creatures, right? Poor thing must have been so lonely and hungry and in need of companionship. Then enter John, who is defiant like a wraith. Strong. With so much life in him. Think Todd went from bemusement to hope and then maybe like, "wait, can I keep this one"? lol So maybe in an alternate scenario Todd has put a little too much of his desire for a companion/brother into his reviving of John... sharing some of his dna. Thus acidentally make him his hive brother (in arms), kinda, 'cause John - stubborn human with a hyped up ATA gene that he is - is also bound to Rodney.... Which leads me to the big question: Will Rodney still love him when he's a wraith?

You know how sometimes the devil on a writer's shoulder whispers of hurting the blorbo? Add to that my love for angst and then sprinkle it with a rewatch of The Storm/The Eye for good measure. Finish it of by cooking it in a heatwave... and boom, here we are. lol So, the story started upon the single image of a kidnapped McShep being made to suffer. With John in shackles and at the mercy of Kolya... but through Rodney, who's forced to haul him up and keep him hanging off the ceiling so said Genii can do his worst. Oh, and of course our idiots in love are trying to protect the other, which bemuses Kolya. Yes... this is also when they come out to each other, and to Kolya, who then uses it against them. Duh. Snippet time! This is where the real hurt starts... in chapter 2. I'm currently writing the endgame of the stand off in chapter 6. Not sure yet if that's where I want to end it, or if there's gonna be one (or two) post-mission-gone-wrong angst and comfort chapter before the closing credits. lol. Ugh. This wip got way longer than I'd intended as it is. Figures! More so by the second… for now the two guards are forcing Rodney to walk towards where a single, thick rope is dangling down from a hoist fastened onto the ceiling of beams… that which connects with the chains of manacles fastened onto John's wrist. Why?! But the damning truth dawns on John even as Mountain thrusts said rope into Rodney's hands. No. Hell no! "You can't possibly be serious… this, I can't…", Rodney too catches on; both to what is asked of him and how it's gonna spell suffering for them both. "But you will", Kolya pushes onwards. "Let go of it and I will kill him where he falls to the floor. Pull, Doctor McKay. "
