Imagine...
Waking up in the matrix and falling for Agent Smith while trying to figure it all out. [Part 2[
(For @where-is-my-mind-tho and AO3 anon)
Part 1
Working with Agent Smith was odd. He’d said that he wanted your help, however it didn’t actually seem as if he needed it. He knew the program well, and was a skilled fighter against anything that got in your way. He said that he thought the key to breaking the system might be the human element, but it was difficult to say if that were true. As for your relationship with him, well, that was another oddity. It was impossible to tell if the two of you were forming a bond or not. He protected you from other Agents and the sentinels, but he made it no secret that he despised humans.
He would share his plans with you, and took considerations knowing that you needed to rest and eat. He understood your basic schedule and could accommodate it as needed. Initially he was very frustrated by what he considered to be frequent stops, but his complaints died down the longer the two of you journeyed together.
Despite your better judgement, you found that your feelings for Smith continued to grow. It didn’t make sense to you. Certainly he didn’t reciprocate any interest, right? He did spend a good amount of time caring for you and ensuring your survival. Occasionally even your comfort was a concern for him.Â
“You found a blanket for me?” Smith didn’t answer questions that had an obvious answer. He merely handed you the cloth so you could wrap yourself up in it.
“Thank you.” You wanted to know if he was coming to care for you in any way, though asking him directly was not an option. “Very kind of you to bring a gift for a... what did you say, a disease?”
"Perhaps... some viruses are necessary.”
Was that a compliment?
