No, this is not on death, depression or computer games. Assassin is a totally awesome real-life game that our maths table is playing now. No, this game is not actually related to our maths class in any way, it’s just a game we organised as our table group; that’s Alysha, Michael, Nick, Oscar, Alex and myself.
Basically, the host (which in our case is Oscar) organises the game; the assassins and victims- so the host is not allowed to play the game. The weapon we’re using to ‘kill’ is a pen. The aim is to try and kill your victim, and the thing to remember is there can be no witnesses- regardless of whether they are playing the game or not. So if you imagine the situation as a real murder, could you get away with it without anyone noticing?
Once you kill your victim, that person’s victim becomes your next one. The longer the game lasts, the better it gets- because it builds up a feeling of paranoia within the group…hehe- I’ve heard and seen some pretty could examples of paranoia – eh hem – Alysha…
This is actually a real game; you can check out the rules and details at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin_(game) if you're interested.
Our game commenced at the end of period 3 (careers) and by the end of period 5 (I think), Michael was assassinated. So much for a long-term game…
I was determined to stay in the game for at least 3 days, but sadly, I didn’t even last to the end of day 1. Once we got to Epping station – after the early train had left (so it was deserted)- Alex assassinated me. Wasn’t happy- and that narrows it down to 3 people. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. I hope it doesn’t fail.
Well the point of this was to kinda explain the game with our situation I guess, and I think more people should play it. It would be really cool if we could get together a really big group to play… yeah mass murder =).
