NEW SONG // CAB CALLOWAY

If you just want the words, would wgetting and writing a quick script to get the meat be possible? Idk if that’d help with the ads
A certain amount of layout turns out to be pretty content-important. Lynx has always been more annoying than helpful for me.
The thing is that I mostly want javascript off in casual browsing, when I’m poking around. That’s exactly when I don’t want to be futzing around with command-line scripts and remembering weird keyboard shortcuts and customizing extensions. I just want my sites to load without doing any random crap.
Sometimes I’m googling around for stuff and I get a link to a random news website or recipe site or something. And almost inevitably when I click through
1. A bar pops up at the bottom of the screen asking if I want to accept cookies.
1a. Often there’s some other sort of floating item/playing video/toolbar or something.
2. About two seconds after the page loads, everything moves around on screen because some script finishes loading.
2a. two seconds later, it all moves around again. Inevitably this happens when I’m trying to click something and I miss and click something else.
3. After scrolling half a page, the page dims and an obnoxious splash thing pops up asking me to subscribe.
And not only do I not want any of that to happen, I don’t want my computer to allow it to happen. Most of those features I have never seen a case where they’re actually helpful or reasonable. And they’re massive performance hogs.
Web design is in fact better than just wgetting text files, because layout can be helpful! And CSS is amazing. And if you look at my personal site, it’s not not-laid-out. It’s just built up out of text, because that’s how you convey information. (And the one bit of Javascript I can’t replace because Blink doesn’t support MathML).
