just found out I do math wierd. I'm gonna explain what I do with an example.
if I'm trying to figure out 7+8, I'll either know that 7+7 is 14, and 8+8 is 16, so the number in between(15) is the answer, I figured this out super early on, only years later did I find out about averages, and only much more recently did I figure out I was using them. I'm taking the average, and multiplying it by two. I'm literally skipping a step in finding the average and undoing it cuz I find that easier. That one I always assumed was wierd, IDK for sure tho. My other method I my use for this, is knowing that 7 is two more than 5, and 8 is three more than 5, so I split them up. Instead of adding 7+8, I make it easier, 2+3+10. Apparently that's not normal. Apparently most people are fucking superhumans who just see 7+8 and go "ah yes, 15" without that shortcut. If people use the first one than that particular question makes sense, but what about 7+9? You can't use the first shortcut there, the doubles have multiple numbers in between them. How do people just add them like it's nothing, no shortcuts, no memorization, just 16. Also subtraction, if I'm figuring out 14-6 I don't use the strategy that was taught to me because I'm not superhuman, but apparently most people are. I always assumed you were supposed to figure out the shortcuts that work for you, but apparently not. Apparently you're not supposed to figure out that 6 is two more than 4, so 14-6 would be two less than 10. Apparently I was using negative numbers before I knew about negative numbers. I knew most of this was wierd, but the one I just found out was wierd is what made me think about this. Who the fuck is just subtracting 6 from 14?
