Person A finds a whole cookbook using math storytelling to explain the recipe ingredient ratios, making it a bit like a puzzle book with the prize for completing each puzzle being the recipe making sense, at a used book store. Person A loves math and is bad at cooking, but is trying to teach math to their partner/friend/roommate, Person B, who loves cooking and is bad at math, and Person B wants to teach Person A cooking, so the book is their way of meeting in the middle.

To quell concerns, NASA explains that they were more than prepared for the logical side of their mission, but they lacked a fair amount of the emotional side. Character A was therefor sourced and deemed one of the first interstellar attachés, documenting the human side of this once in a lifetime experience, experimenting with different types of gravity-based art, and reporting home to the world just how alien but familiar the red planet truly was.
