Hi, rising freshman here. I'm taking Math 3 and RS1 in freshman year, and I think I'm a little behind, my classmates are taking math 4/5, and rs1 over the summer. Is there a placement test to test out of math3? How do I take it? Also, are there any other ways to somewhat catch up? I aim to takt BC in 10th
Thereās no Math 3 skip test but I think you could take the Math 4 skip test and take Math 5 over the summer in order to take BC sophomore year? I think that they might not offer skip tests anymore though according to the FCPS website so this would definitely be a question to bring to your counselor. tjhsst.fcps.edu/node/1973
Youāre not really ābehindā thoughāitās more average. Youāre probably where a solid majority of your class is (RS1+Math 3 freshman year).
You can show that you handle very advanced courses at TJ in subjects other than mathāTJ has a TON of CS electives (seriously, like 5 or 6 years worth...), if you do summer chem then you can do the AP Bio/AP Chem mix, and then on to DNA or Neuro or Orgo before senior year. You can take BC junior year concurrently with AP Physics and do Optics senior year. You can even go far (AP and level 5) in foreign language if thatās your thing. Thereās a lot of course opportunities at TJ and being where you are in math does not prohibit you from ācatching upā in that regard.
