This is a font im developing. From scratch. By myself. For my class. (I’m doing type generation rn)

This is the final version, and theres been uh. Hella updates as we go.

But uh yeah that’s a cool thing I guess. I’m gonna be so real I chose to do this class as a flex because I knew it could look unique in my portfolio. Also because saying “hi my name’s Matcha I’ve made a font and put it on clothing” is just a whole power move lmao

As for what the idea was, uh.

So theres this thing called the ISTD. Do I fully understand what it is? No. I think it’s a competition of some kind but whatever. My uni ON THE FIRST DAY. decided “hey what if we take the top 5 type gen students and put them into the competition this year”

So we’re following The competitions rules of making a font that “shapes how the world reads”

I’m not trying to get into the top 5 im gonna be so real. If I do, great. But I just wanna have a vibe of a time.

Anyways, my Font’s inspired by how we “read” our surroundings. Yaknow. Architecture, clothing, and the like. specifically because I'm Matchasan Tea Artist Extrodinaire And My Uni's Most Prominent Goth I pulled mainly from gothic architecture and alternative clothing mainly in protest to using illustrator, actually! I feel like using things like Illustrator clean up a design a bit too much and I really hate that. and coupled with AI being so prominent within my university, and how our world is becoming so much more minimalist by the minute, I wanted this to be inspired by the skilled labour of architects, builders, and even alternative people making the garments we now as a society read as "alternative" in some way So while I do have to use illustrator for my assessment NOW, the next (and final) assessment will be hand-generated to vector using Calligraphr and I'm gonna be making clothes for a photoshoot for my friends!!! Idk if I'll share those photos here (i enjoy not having my face linked to my art, but the clothes are my art. so its weird like that lmao) but yeah!!!! that's my current favourite uni assessment lmao and if you read this far, holy shit youre a nerd. take your prize- a freshly finished vectorisation (and subsequent rasterisation) of some key letters!!

So for some background, alruna’s gonna be a warlock soon. Hopefully. And part of that was making a subclass for her so she can be a kickass warlock lady in a pact to whatever the fuck her patron is.

Her patron being Syro, a… either dead, or sleeping god. Which is cool as fuck and I love it <3 anyways, among a bunch of other stuff. theres a lot of reference to radiant damage (alruna gains orbs that can be used as moonbeam, later gets crown of stars as a spell, she gains radiant resistance, u get the idea). Which yeah. Makes sense.

But then last session happened.

So last session Alruna finally got this cool bow we found fixed (we broke it by dropping our airship on it. Drearujorith saved alruna’s ass, alruna wants to repay them.) and the DM let me see the stat block because he’s chill like that

There’s this one ability is has called “rod of god” and it does like. Fucktons of radiant damage. (Look don’t quote me on this I’m not using the bow but I believe it’s 8d10???? Hi reminder we’re level 4) and it recharges once a week.

Radiant damage. Interesting.

Like I genuinely said that to the DM. Mainly bc if there’s one thing I do it’s notice weird little shit like that.

Now for some more backstory, this bow, some swords we’ve seen in the past, and a breastplate we found last session are roughly 200 years old (maybe older) and likely from the city of Pontybridge. Pontybridge now having been destroyed by…. Nobody knows. But it’s a blackened area on the map, and theres a bunch of locations that are linked to pontybridge and have automatons and stuff- all of which are powered by these blue rocks (think hextech. Bc it’s literally just hextech and as a fan of league lore I’m very happy with this)

So me being me, I ask my DM “yo bro. What are the chances the peoole of pontybridge killed Syro” right. Expecting no answer because as if hes gonna tell me.

He says “think bigger.”

Think. Bigger.

And I mentioned my next theory and he smirked so i think I’m onto something. But anyways-

So after he says “think bigger” I start thinking the next craziest thing and this is where our theory ACTUALLY BEGINS. And also where I start getting into stuff my DM has told me that I probably shouldn’t know.

I think Syro is the reason pontybridge has been destroyed.

SPECIFICALLY.

I think there was a point in time where the people of pontybridge prolly were chill with Syro’s existence. hell maybe they were even worshipped openly alongside deities like Bahamut and Makē. Syro possibly even having ties to their technology (hence alruna’s warlock kit having a lot of stuff related to radiant dmg) and maybe???????? Ties to the blue rocks?????? Tho that sounds like a stretch. Im not extremely sold on it.

over time tho, the people of pontybridge started making weaponry and automatons n stuff. N from there Syro prolly thought they were going in a dangerous direction (possibly to kill the gods) and so Syro offed all the people of pontybridge.

ALSO. DM told me in the past he was possibly gonna use the ‘infested’ terrain condition thing from Tasha’s for when were in pontybridge, but he was gonna reskin it to automatons, so possibly either the automatons have gone haywire, or the last wishes of a dead god are still controlling them.

AND IF YOU WANNA TAKE THIS EVEN FUCKING FURTHER BECAUSE OF COURSE.

I think that Larnwick and pontybridge were at one point, a single empire. Mainly bc

1) the ancient ass necromancer from our second session didn’t know pontybridge was destroyed, and when we told him he asked about Larnwick. So clearly theres a connection there and

2) the duke and duchess’ estate clearly has some shit going on considering it can cast POWER WORD STUN. That’s not the duke that did that IT WAS THE DUKE USING THE MAGIC OF THE AUDIENCE CHAMBER THERES SOMETHING GOING ON THERE SURELY LARNWICK AND PONTYBRIDGE ARE CONNECTED SOMEHOW.

Anyways, Pontybridge went down and chances are Larnwick suffered for it. Enter the rulers of Larnwick who probably started making infernal deals to try and stabilise the city, possibly going straight to Asmodeus and wanting the city to thrive in spite of Syro’s actions. giving them the way the city is now powered, and has since spiralled into the royal family securing riches and control (unless you’re Aldous in which you wanna uh. Commit regicide……)

As for how Syro gained “dead/sleeping god” status- I’m gonna be so real I’m not too sure???? This is where we get into big guess territory. Chances are either Syro was killed by the other gods for their transgressions, or worship stopped, and Syro fell into obscurity or and lost power that way

I’m not too sure on how gods work in dnd let alone in fortanis so uhh yea.

But yeah. This was supposed to be a much shorter post lmao but I remember stuff too well and here we are.

This is prolly all wrong lmao. I feel like everyone else will have ties to what happened in pontybridge as well (maybe it was a compounding problem, since it seems like drearujorith’s ancestor might have also had some connection to pontybridge. >:3c) but hey I know what I know, and I don’t know the backstories or plans for the other players.

Drearujorith- their grandfather is ABSOLUTELY involved somehow. Drearujorith wants to go to pontybridge to find him so theres somethin there SURELY. SURELY IM NOT DELULU. It was prolly a compounding problem iunno

Kevin- has been stated in-session to understand the language on some of the ancient artefacts. So chances are his ancestors are connected to this mess.

Eric- elves seem pretty insular and half elves are seen as a disgusting thing, so maybe the elves shut themselves off once pontybridge was destroyed kinda like Ixtal in league lore???

Donna- doesnt have any lore.

Alruna- uh. The whole Post dawg.

But yeah!!! That’s my many theories related to Syro, pontybridge, whats going on with the blue rocks, and just The Whole Thing.
