Leo doesn’t immediately warm up to the idea

He’s used to Splinter’s disciplined ways, so this easygoing, “normal” guy feels a little out of place

Leo observes quietly, unsure what to make of him

Over time, Leo realizes he’s just here to be supportive and present, with no agenda or hidden teachings

Leo starts to appreciate the simplicity of it; it’s nice to have someone around who just wants to listen, chat, and occasionally tell him that he’s doing great without expecting anything in return

When he realizes this guy doesn’t know anything about ninjutsu or science, he’s both a little relieved and curious to see what he’s all about

He quickly finds that Splinter’s partner has a surprising amount of curiosity and interest in Donnie’s work, even if he doesn’t understand it all

He encourages Donnie to share his projects, hyping him up even if he’s clueless about the details

Donnie isn’t used to having someone cheer him on with no questions asked

The support is genuine, and he starts feeling more confident in himself

It’s refreshing for him to have a cool dad who just thinks everything he does is awesome.

Mikey absolutely loves him right from the start

He’s fun, engaging, and doesn’t shy away from Mikey’s goofiness

In fact, he joins right in, making Mikey feel totally accepted

They quickly develop a bond over movies, snacks, and games

Mikey finally has someone who’ll watch every cheesy movie and try his new recipes without a second thought

They share inside jokes, and Mikey feels like he has a buddy who genuinely gets his vibe

• No PDA. While he does show his love to you through gestures and words, and a hug here or there, he reserves his affection to be in private. It’s not embarrassment or anything, it’s how he was raised.

• When alone, he loves to kiss your cheeks. His whiskers would tickle and cause you to giggle. When you weren’t paying attention, he would sneak a kiss on your lips.

• HUGS! Oh my god. His fur is so soft and warm. When he would envelop you in his giant arms, it was as if a giant teddy bear hugged you. He is very gentle with you, but held tight, especially when you were upset.

• “I love you” would come rarely. This, he wouldn’t hesitate to say in front of his sons. The first time he said he loved you, was after an encounter with the Shredder that left you extremely injured. He wouldn’t leave your side after that day.

• Comfortable silence. Either it be you reading a book and Splinter meditating next to you, you enjoyed each other’s company and time. Maybe a small conversation here and there.

• Of course Splinter being the turtles father, you would take on a parental role. Teaching the brothers patience, compassion for one another. Most of all, love. They love you to death and would do anything to protect you.

• Meals. Everyone loves pizza, but after a while it got repetitive. There would be nights you would mix up and make something new for your family. Of course, Splinter would always appreciate it, especially when you made a new batch of cheesecicles.

• Cuddling. Tons of it. When you both are alone in your room, or when the brothers are on patrol, you would jump at the chance to wrap yourself around your lover and watch tv in the living room. When you were laying down for the night, Splinter would wrap his large paws around your smaller frame, holding you close, snout snuggled into the crook of your neck.

• He would train you to become a Kunoichi. Whether you had past training or not, he would work with you day and night, learning the ways of a ninja. He would treat you the same as his sons in the dojo, pushing you to your limits to become your best self.

• He always makes sure your needs are met. Are you hungry? He has a bowl of soup in front of you. Thirsty? Tea is already brewing. Whatever you needed, he made sure you got.

(This is sort of a Reader x Splinter friendship thing but I ended up caring more about the father son bonding because these precious boys deserve it oops also sorry if it sucks but I'm just getting over writer's block/awfulness ily guys)

Splinter had been acting strange lately.

As the turtles had gotten older and their missions more dangerous, they had spent less time with Splinter. They still trained with him (you never really stop learning) and did their morning-nights meditations...but it had been a little strange going from every second of every day together to the turtles going out more. To the surface more. At this point, they had started building lives separately frtom one another...but they hadn't forgotten each other. And they certainly hadn't forgotten Splinter.

They still spent time with him, especially lately. Splinter had been spending a little more time with them then usual. And it was awesome, they stories they told and the laughs they all shared. Maybe the turtles had forgotten how much they enjoyed spending time with Splinter...but still, something seemed a little bit off. It was something they could all feel but none of them could figure it out.

It was something that Splinter would have to tell them on his own. It was something that he had been meaning to tell them. And late one night, just before bed, he did. The turtles were gathered around their father, eager to hear another story from the old days.

"You would not remember this, it was all so long ago...you were all perhaps a year old at the time this happened. We were forced to move out of our home after construction began to close to us...It was difficult finding a new home for our family. But I found help as well as a friend along the way."

To say that the turtles were shocked was an understatement. But instead of shouting four million questions, they listened eagerly.

"A young woman who was looking for something as well...her brother. He had been taken in the night and she had somehow connected the disappearance to an enemy of ours. But, despite her own pain, she stopped looking long enough to help us find a home. You might not remember her but she was very fond of all of you. And you all wept so much...when she left."

It was Mikey that finally spoke up, unable to contain his excitement any longer.

"Well, what happened?? Who was she? Did she find her brother? Did she have a favorite turtle?"

He received a slap on the head for that last question (from Raphael of course) but Splinter only chuckled.

"Master, why didn't you tell us any of this before?" Leonardo asked.

"I wanted to wait until I had the answers to all of your questions. When she left, we lost contact. She feared putting us in danger as well as revealing her own location. It wasn't until recently that I finally heard from my old friend again. She wanted to ask if we would like to see her and her brother..."

Mikey couldn't resist squealing excited as his brothers answered "yes, yes, yes" over and over again. It was crazy, Master Splinter dropping a bomb like this but the good kind of crazy. The best kind. And then, a week later, they met them. An older, maybe late 30's woman with determined eyes and a mind smile. At her side was a mutant, a giant purple Bigfoot type thing with massive fangs and black eyes.

She smiled at Splinter, hugging her old friend after so long. They both laughed happily, the woman taking her brother's clawed hand.

"Y/N! And this must be Gregory." Splinter said, motioning for his sons to come closer.

The turtles came a little closer, each a little unsure. Each trying to see if they could remember her...Mikey was certain that he had heard that laugh, Leo sure that he had seen those shining eyes somewhere. But even if they truly couldn't remember her, she remembered them. Smiling kindly, she said,

"Look at all of you! A part of me expected to see you still tiny and cute but you've all grown up."

"Still cute though, right?" Mikey quipped.

His brothers groaned as she laughed.

"Of course you are. I'm Y/N and this," she said, motioning behind her, "is Greg. He can be a littled bit shy."

It was supposed to be a normal night in the lair. Everything was quiet until Splinter’s wife doubled over, breathing hard, and they all knew it was happening—she was going into labor. Her contractions had started, and there wasn’t time to consider anything else. They all knew getting her to a hospital wasn’t an option, so right there in the safety of their home, the family sprang into action.

Donnie was the first to step up. He had made a list of supplies months ago, planning for a moment exactly like this, just in case. He gathered everything he’d need: clean towels, makeshift medical tools, sterile gloves, everything he could think of. Despite his confidence, there was a nervous energy about him. This was big, bigger than any test he’d faced, but Donnie was determined to bring his new sibling safely into the world.

Splinter stayed by his wife’s side, his hand never leaving hers as he whispered gentle encouragements. “I’m here, my love,” he’d say softly, his voice calm and steady. “You’re strong. You can do this.” The words seemed to ease her, bringing a bit of comfort through each wave of pain. Meanwhile, the other turtles hovered in the living room, nervous, peeking around corners, curious and yet anxious. They weren’t used to seeing their mother in pain, and it unsettled them, but they all felt the same pull—their new sibling was coming.

Hours passed, each one stretching longer than the last. Donnie worked with calm determination, walking his mother through each step, giving his father nods of encouragement when he needed it, focusing on the task even when his own heart was pounding with nerves.

And then, finally, the sound they had all been waiting for—a tiny, delicate cry. It echoed through the lair, filling every stone corner with a new, unfamiliar sound. Donnie carefully held up the newborn, wrapped snugly in one of the towels he’d brought, her little face scrunched up as she let out soft, healthy cries. Splinter’s hand trembled as he reached for his daughter, his expression overcome with emotion as he looked down at her for the first time.

She was so small, her tiny fingers curling and uncurling as she took her first breaths. Splinter’s wife reached out, brushing a gentle finger across the baby’s cheek. She smiled weakly, the exhaustion plain in her eyes, but there was a quiet happiness there too. She glanced at Splinter, the two of them sharing a silent moment as they took in their new daughter.

“She will be Hana,” She whispered, voice thick with emotion.

In Japanese, it meant “flower,” a fitting name for something so beautiful and delicate yet so resilient, a little blossom bringing new life to their family.

At that moment, the brothers couldn’t hold back any longer. Mikey was the first to quietly step forward, he looked at his tiny sister with wide eyes. “She’s…she’s so little,” he whispered, reaching out to gently touch one of her small, wrinkly hands. She stirred, her little fingers curling around his thumb, and Mikey’s face lit up with the biggest, softest smile his brothers had ever seen.

One by one, each of them got a turn to meet her. Raph held her carefully, looking down at her with the same gentleness he’d show a fragile glass. Donnie, after delivering her, finally let himself relax, watching her with quiet pride, knowing he’d helped bring her safely into the world. Leo took her last, his hand steady but his eyes soft as he whispered a quiet hello, promising her in his mind that he’d protect her, always.

Splinter watched each of his sons, feeling a new sense of joy swell in his chest as he saw them gather around Hana, his family complete in a way he never imagined. In his heart, he knew Hana would grow up surrounded by love and laughter, shielded and cherished. And as the hours went by, the turtles stayed close, not wanting to leave her side, their hearts already full of love they hadn’t expected to feel so soon.

• Splinter was never one for letting words, or even actions get to him. Over the years, he had learned to control his emotions, ever since….

• This one particular day, the turtles were out on a patrol, allowing their father to have some free time. Meditating was usually what he enjoyed, but today, it was the television.

• Remote in hand, arm wrapped around your shoulders, the rat clicked through different channels, eventually the news catching his attention.

• “Mutants running rampid! What are we going to do with these creatures? Trap them? Possibly work with them? The media doesn’t know. This is Lou Jitsu, Channel 6 news!”

• With a small sigh, the older male switched the channel once again, not really caring for what was on the screen. Eyes furrowed, staring at the tv, knew this bothered your spouse, as it did you.

• You never cared for what he had looked like, why do others? “Splinter, you okay?” You asked, turning your attention to your mate, laying your hands on his thigh. “Y/n, throughout my lifetime, humans have always been scared of the unknown. It’s never bothered me; how I look. And I look at you, my mate, living in such fear, hatred. How do you stay open?”

• Giving Splinter a small smile, you could only breathe out a small laugh. “Yoshi, it’s because it’s not just mutants humans have done this too. School bullies? Yeah, I’ve been through that. I’ve been shunned and ridiculed to high hell, but there’s a point where I knew my self worth; where they taught me that judgement is sometimes horrible. I choose to see the good, in people, in you, and our sons. That’s how I do it. You have to push past the fear and anger. If not, it consumes you, you know?”

• With a small “Hm”, the rats gaze bore into yours, a soft look written. “I suppose so, darling.” He muttered, pulling you onto his lap, paws locking onto your back. “You have done so much for me and our sons. With you, my life is normal.”

• When you had first met, it was confusing. Initially, you were very kind, offering nothing but kindness towards the sensei. The next, you held yourself in such a way that reminded him of The Shredder. This made the rat weary of you until he read up on who you exactly were.

• The turtles were also weary of you for a few months. They loved when you were happy and open, but when you switched, their guard was up. Your eyes would change to a gold, something amidst. You never hurt any of them, only ever sharp with them.

• Over time, they got used to your change, watching your eyes, turning from e/c to gold, ever so quickly. No longer afraid, the turtles would treat you no differently from your changes. They’d greet you the same, love you the same, and of course, Michelangelo would always hug you when coming back from patrol.

• The turtles had become your pride and joy, your warm and cold heart both willing to protect them with your life, even though you were a god. This was proven during a particularly bad day, the Shredder, deciding to show himself, had pissed you off. One hand was all you needed to have him back off.

• You grew to love their father, Splinter, but it was hard to show sometimes. Being a god of peace and death, it was tough showing your emotions. Splinter knew that, taking small steps with you. Through meditation and conversation, you had the grasp of human emotion. In either form, you could distinguish your feelings and speak out about them.

• You both rarely said ‘I love you’, especially you. When you spoke those words, it caught your spouse off-guard, making him to his head. Of course, you showed him how you loved him, but verbally, it was almost never. It was always a special moment when you spoke those simple words.

• You we’re impressive with your fighting skills, being the god of war, it came naturally. Splinter decided you should help train the turtles, maybe himself once in a while. And boy, you gave them a workout. Panting breaths and all, you gave them your all. The world wasn’t kind, neither should they. Of course, when you were your kinder self, you’d apologize to the boys for working them so hard, offering a cup of tea and snacks.

• Speaking of, when you were your kinder self, you’d always be found next to Splinter, either arm wrapped around his own, or simply in his presence. You loved his company and showed it. Giving gifts was a big thing for you, either the gift of memories long gone, or simply making him something from your heart. You knew you could be cold and overbearing, so while it was to show your love, it was a form of an apology.

• You helped your family around the sewers, keeping their home clean and organized, adding some decorations here and there. Of course, you’d have a jar of treats for ice cream kitty.

Take It Out On Me

Darkness. Some fear it, some bathe themselves in it. You were not one of those people, but here you were, drowning. The day had gone by as usual, taking care of your boys, spending time with your lover. Now, well, life had flip itself upside down.

The family was enjoying Space Hero’s, you cuddled against the rats side, your sons next to you. You couldn’t have asked for better. That was, until everything collapsed, quite literally. The walls, shaking with such force, you couldn’t tell if you were vibrating, or merely hallucinating.

As stones fell, show long forgotten, you rushed your sons to the nearest exit, Splinter opting to be left behind, foot soldiers trotting their way into your home. Some say time is no friend, this was true. It was drooling, slow. You saw how your sons were scared. For them and for their father. They tried many times to run back, but with a wave of your hand, you kept them by your side.

Everything seemed to be calm, the tunnels dark. Your only friend was the rhythmic drops of water. Thinking you were safe, you let your sons sit down, seeing how tired they were. Looking at the ground, running a hand through your hair, the dirt seemed to be moving? ‘Weird. I’m not doing anything’ Standing up quickly, raising your hands, forcibly shoving the turtles far from yourself. “Run my sons! And don’t look back!” Voice echoing throughout the tunnels, eyes wide as footsteps got louder by the second, dirt shaking hastily.

“Mom! We can leave you!” Raphael cried out, the others begging for you to come. “I said go!” You yelled, your eyes never leaving the turtles, watching as their figures became cloudy. One by one, the soldiers came, making their way to you, but never past. Their bodies, laying across the dirt floor, your breath heavy with anger. Screaming, that’s all that was heard. Not of the soldiers, but of you. A mother’s cry. One that could pierce the hearts of angels.

You fought, until there was nothing to stab, throw, punch. Nothing except the air. On your heels, you began to run. Your boys were safe, you just hoped your husband was too. “Yoshi!” Feet coming to a halt, rubble everywhere, almost quiet, except for the groans and sheath of metal.

Throughout your years, you’ve experienced chapters of history, but this? The scene before you, Splinter laying on the ground, battered and bloody, The Shredder, blade to the mutants throat, it torn something in you. “Get away from him!” You screamed, walls shaking underneath your breath.

The Shredder, deaf to your words, lifted his blade, swinging down onto his target, the feeling on flesh being pierced. Though, looking down, it wasn’t Hamato Yoshi against the blade, rather, it was you. “No one hurts my family.” Whimpering, you placed your hand on the blade, electricity shooting from your fingertips, to the armor dawning Oroku Saki. The last thing you heard, was the cries of your lover, pressure applied to your stomach.

Days, weeks, you were floating. You didn’t know where you were. You could hear voices, faint, but there. There was nothing to see, except the void. Afraid, you couldn’t move, couldn’t speak, yet you were screaming. Was this hell? Heaven? You didn’t know. You wanted to go home.

It stayed like this for days, a week maybe? Time was indifferent here. You couldn’t feel anything, so why were you shaking all of the sudden? “Y/n?” “Mom? Please, wake up.”

The shaking became violent, almost painful, and then, light. Groaning, you lifted your arms, cursing the light that pierced your vision. “MOM!” Came screams, weight sinking onto your chest and shoulders. Opening your eyes, your sons held onto you, tears evident on their green scales. “Mom you’re awake.” Donatello whimpered, his grip tightening onto your shirt. The turtles, dared not to let you go. “Dad never left your side.”
