Oh absolutely.

It’s basically the missing piece of the whole arc with the Human-Batarian conflict we never got. It’s the way to actually explore and develop the Batarians in a meaningful way to make them more than just the utterly generic bad-guys of the trilogy.

As for how, I imagine having them be a third DLC squadmate in Mass Effect 2 might have worked the best? Or maybe just have them replace Zaeed?

…Heck, what if Zaeed as a character simply was a Batarian instead of human?

Preferred Shepard Backstory:

I’d have to say Colonist. It’s always just felt the most interesting in terms of drama, character depth and tied into the setting. To me, Earthborn has always felt a bit bland and uninteresting in that it almost feels like it plays to the self-insert aspect of Shepard? Meanwhile Spacer feels just a bit too ‘safe’. Meanwhile, the Colonist background ties directly into the Human-Batarian conflict that underlines much of the trilogy and just comes off the most interesting.

I also feel like Colonist can potential tie into one or even both of the other backgrounds, as I went into in my recent ‘Combined Shepard Background’ post.

Unfortunately no, and looking back I do wish I’d given it a try at least. A lot of the more unique character abilities/playstyles seem really fun (jetpack turians and teleport spamming biotic ninjas look sick lol)

Funny enough, I’ve had a small side-project going for a while now where I’ve been essentially ‘upgrading’ the main cast circa ME3 with multiplayer abilities. It’s been pretty fun XD

That’s actually a pretty good question because honestly I’m not sure how well I remember, because I started with Mass Effect 1 not too long after it first released back in 2007. I know I didn’t pick it up immediately on release but I also started playing it before Bring Down the Sky was released, so that should give an idea as to the timeframe. Actually I think I may have gotten it as a Christmas present that year from a relative lol :D

36. Oh man, that is a doozy of a question lol I definitely want to say there was one particular moment that had me laughing my ass off but I can’t think of it right now. So I’m just going to list off a bunch of especially funny moments I can think of:

Seeing an un-romanced Traynor’s massive and hilariously awkward crush on EDI during the Citadel party, and the implications that they probably fucked that night XD

Gradually learning through the Omega DLC that not only is a Paragon FemShep absolutely Aria’s type, but that she’s trying to use Shep as a REBOUND after getting dumped by her ex-GF who for some reason is basically a genderbent Garrus. Also Aria trying to smooch MaleShep and INSTANTLY regretting it.

The freaking decapitated screaming Husk head desk ornament from the Leviathan DLC.

The one Citadel DLC elevator conversation where Tali is completely unphased by the upcoming fight with Clone Shepard and is just annoyed at all the cleanup she’s going to have to do afterwards and at the end gives that totally disaffected “Come on. Let’s go kill this bosh-tet.”

This one mod I ran for ME3 that adds more emails that has Mordin sending a hilariously passive-aggressive rant on how someone removed his old lab on the Normandy XD

41. So this is an interesting one because on the one hand, I could just say my general OTP and main Shep-ship; FemShep/Liara. But I actually have to say my favorite romance is actually Garrus/Tali because the story behind it is way funnier:

You see, I actually started shipping Garrus and Tali as far back as Mass Effect 1. I didn’t feel like shipping Shepard with either Garrus OR Tali like everyone else was (I actually quite liked FemShep/Liara back then!), I thought it was much better to ship those two with each other! Hell, I think there was a stretch of time where Talibrations was my outright OTP for Mass Effect!

However, a while after Mass Effect 2 came out and a few playthroughs, my interest in Garrus and Tali as a ship waned, owing to a combination of a lack of overall fandom interest in the ship and how much shipping Shepard with either of the two had become all anyone wanted to talk about, as well as my starting to find M/F ships in general to be rather overrated.

Which of course made it all the funnier come Mass Effect 3 when my Liara-romancing Shepard randomly found those two smooching in the forward battery and my crackship from back during the first game came to pass after all XD

49. First off, always playing FemShep lol

Shepard has a hilarious weakness for pretty and/or cute Asari.

Shepard secretly has no idea what she is doing and has been ‘faking it til she makes it’ since pretty much day one and is terrified of anyone finding out.

If not for the threat of the Reapers, Shepard would absolutely take the Normandy and her found family crew and just drop off the grid and become a freelance mercenary team and/or space pirate. By the end of ME2, she is just REAL fucking tired of all this shit.

Garrus: Sorry bro...but you're my bro, I wouldn't try and ruin our marvelous friendship.

2: What are they flaws? Do they like talking about them and/or do they acknowledge them and try work on them? Wyh Shepard's main flaw is arrogance, which shows itself in her belief that she can solve every issue, fix every problem - reinforced by her role in the Skyllian Blitz. Her general kindness and willingness to help others softened the arrogance some, but it lingered under the surface, even after being rebuilt by Cerberus. It took the falling of Thessia to make her finally realize she wasn't Superman, and not every battle could be won. It was a bitter pill to swallow.

3: What memory do they like to remember? The times spent with both her parents at the same time are rare jewels she cherishes. The first time she saw the Citadel through the nebula surrounding it. And each and every second spent with Kaidan.

7: Did they want to be a part of the N7 program? While she didn't seek out the N7 program, Wyh followed it through to the very end, more from a sense of duty than any true desire to be an N7. Being N7 was expected of her, so N7 she became.

27: Who is your Shepard’s best friend? Ashley was someone who quickly earned a place in Wyh's heart, and was her trusted confidant and friend. Garrus filled that empty space after Ashley's sacrifice, and remained her best friend until the bitter end.

I was tagged by @swaps55 and it’s one of my fav franchise so let’s go (was a fan of Bioware before, not so much these days but I still love a lot of their games).

I am a fan since: I think it’s 2008/2009, as I buy the game maybe one year after the original release. It was one sale for a cheap price, was praised and also sifi ! Unofortunately my computer was too old, so I had to wait till I change it (because it ireemediably crashed, if I recall correctly).

Favourite game of the series: I love the first one for the discovery of the lore ! The second was great too, very dynamic. The third was maybe too sad for me, even if I love it also. I don’t really know which is my fav.

Mshep or Fshep?: Fshep is my fav! But I can never play with the premade characters, male or female I have to create my own. Olivia Shepard, Soldier, spacer and survivor is my fav among my characters.

Earthborn, Colonist, or Spacer?: All the three are really interesting and leave place for a lot of headcanons, I like that ! I would say spacer, though,because you know for sure your mother is alive and it’s really cool to have messages from her, I loved that part so much in game.

Biotics or Tech? : Biotics, but I’m biased, I love the animations and all the lore behind it.

Paragon or Renegade?: Paragon, but I do use some of the renegade interruption for my soldier and my m!Shepard. (Mostly because they’re fun and sometimes it’s good to play on the rough side).

Favourite class: I’m really playing the game like a potato, so even if adept is really cool, I enjoy the soldier more (give me big guns and I’ll be happy!!).

Favourite companion: Oohh it’s a hard one ! I’ll say Tali, because she is clever, fun, has an interesting progression through the games and is ready to be at your side when she can. But still, she has her personal goals / objectives? I’m not sure I’m clear. But I love them all a lot, Garrus  Wrex, Kaidan and Liara come shortly after.

Least favourite companion: Maybe Ashley? I usually let her die on Virmire, because it sounds more logical to save Kaidan, so I don’t know her very well. She is more interesting than she looks though, at first playing F!Shepard I was not very into her but with my male Shep and her romance, I discovered an other side. Grunt and Zaed aren’t really my favs, also.

My squad selection: Depends on the game and my Shep, but usually I’m team alien, like Garrus or Tali and Wrex in the first (or Kaidan), Samara and Mordin in the second. In the last, Kaidan and Garrus + Edi.

Favourite in-game romance: Kaidan was nicer than I first thought. I loved Liara’s romance, but it feels kinda forced in the throat sometimes when you’re not planning to romance her and that’s annoying. Tali’s romance is also cute.

Favourite NPC: Uuuh, hard to say ! Admiral Raan is great, I think.

Favourite Antagonist: Benethia and Saren were great otherwise most of the antagonist feel kinda meh to me. And I can’t appreciate the Reapers or the ninja ashole in ME3 (can’t recall his name, won’t search). He is really a pain in the ass, especially with the way the storyline is planned. I mean, it’s like he is the one with the deus ex machina! What the fuck ! But if the point is to hate him, congrats Bioware, you’re done a good job. His death was very satisfying.

Favourite loyalty mission: Samara and Tali, I think. For very differents reasons, I like the implications and the lore it explore the most.

Favourite mission: Ilos really strike me, it was my favorite planet ever. Love the weird and eerie atmosphere of the planet, it was fantastic and really cool. I especially love the fact that we learn more about Ilos in the third game and how it wasn’t even a prothean’s planet but inhabited by an even older specie.

So if I had to choose from each game:

ME1: Ilos

ME2: Suicide mission

ME3: Priority: Tuchanka

Favourite DLC:

Control, Synthesis or Destroy: I was more fond of synthesis, but now I’m not sure it’s really coherent with the universe and creates some problems (as free will?? Although it seems to be the branch chosen in Mass Effect Andromeda, in a way?) but also it was the one that allow the most people to surive, so...(I’m soft). If I could choose though, I’ll save everyone except the reapers! XD

Favourite weapon: I don’t pay much attention to the weapons, I love the shotgun though, especially in the first one ! :D (One shot one dead, it works well for me I’m not really subtle).

Favourite place: Love Eden Prime, in the first and third (dlc), also Ilos and Noveria. In the third, Tuchanka was really great! Love the architecture you can find on the mission, it looks very neat. It makes you think how the krogan could evolve for the best with the help of their women.
