“ a date? “ he does not glance up from his book, for it is vital that he studies it in depth prior to his meeting on wednesday. yes, another meeting. one after another trailing into the same endless duties and requirements. but he does not mind. this is what he lives for, however when jumin pries his attention away he cannot help but allow his mind to wander. “ hm, i’m unsure. “ he feigns some notion of disinterest, as their games allow such casual attitudes towards the matter at hand as well as anything remotely personal. “ i’ll have to check my diary. valentine’s day already, is it? “ he muses, scribbling within his book something of no real relevance. 

“ I can’t even PAY YOU to stop talking. ” What would he even do with extra money? From his lips escapes a half-sigh, although whether he’s frustrated or simply resigning himself isn’t entirely clear. Either way, he’s probably being difficult. “ I’ll go crazy, you know. ”

he stirs from his sleep, glasses askew and hair flat upon one side where pillow has crushed sweetly against blushing cheek, for he has slept an evening away after a day of hard labour and he could not help himself but drift away, succumbing to the exhaustion if only for a couple hours or so. “ jumin. “ he asks, sleepily with a voice crackling like a winter fire. “ my apologies, i hadn’t meant to fall asleep quite so early-- “ jumin lingers so close, close enough for ignis to reach out and take his fingers gently, as if he were fingering the ivory keys of a piano. “ interesting choice of wake up call. “ he finally wakes properly and thus his witty retorts follow suit. he keeps jumin’s hand within his as he rises and stands before him. their height is shared, inch for inch. 

ok but meta on what ignis havin a crush on someone is like ??

so ignis having a crush at all is... well whilst it isn’t impossible it’s very very rare. it’s probably happened only once before he talked himself out of why it was a crush at all ( i wish i could do that ) and he doesn’t really think about dating or romance in regards to himself. he’ll joke about it, which probably confuses people. they probably assume he is straight up a no nonsense kind of guy, but he will tease his friends certainly about ‘ what women want ‘ as if he even knows. 

he’s literate in prose and poetry though, so maybe he does know in a more fantastical way of how love could be displayed and so he pretty much acknowledges that isn’t really something he has time for or the need to endure. all that heartache, all the guessing, all the time you have to spend. he hasn’t got room for it at all in his life.

but regarding what him ACTUALLY crushing on you is like, would be like... cue him wondering why he’s feeling that way. analysing why he’s feeling those emotions and what caused them in the first place. he dislikes feeling something he can’t understand, experiencing something he cannot find sure answers for, so a crush for him is like... a real dilemma. he’d stay well away from you, unless to ask the odd question which he might need to do in order to work out...wtf is going on here.

without his duty, without his role and place, i imagine he would be a little different but not much different. he would probably impose on them more often, offer to help them more if he did not have the restraints of his position. he’d aid them in their duties, in their studies or whatever they were struggling in, but be shy and modest when needs be. he’d be gracious and pleasant but never over-kind, pressuring or personal. it’s half respect for them but it’s mainly for himself. he needs time and distance, patience and understanding to cope with....CRUSHES SDFGDFFSD
