I ended up going overboard on Awakened Masiki's design, so this is probably his ceremonial outfit. I'm not quite happy with it but the important part is the mask which I like.
I'll probably redesign the outfit at some point. I think the shoulder and gloves will stay, though.
Hello! :) I was wondering if Masiki's facial decorations were inspired by tā moko?
They’re not but I can see the resemblance! His funerary mask is meant to remind him of who he once was, the chin markings being a stylization of his beard and the tear tracks being a symbol of his suffering.
Tā moko is such a beautiful art though. I wouldn’t be surprised if I subconsciously drew from those designs.
In the end, everything circles back to Basmani.
I was planning to have Basmani intersect briefly with Trychinebau and Masiki before parting ways but the plans have changed.
Masiki is joining Basmani’s efforts to reforge the Forged by crafting gold masks modeled off of the faces they had when they were alive for those who aren’t ready to pass on to the mists.
