I had a great summer reading comics at the pool! (The pool is closed now, but I still have a lot of comics I haven’t talked about yet. :))

Harley Quinn #27-29: I’m finally finishing this series...yikes, three years after it ended. It’s still fun though, and I’m looking forward to seeing Harley again in Birds of Prey next year!

Hawkeye #13: Kate and Clint, back together at last. Also, someone named Eden is trying to kill Clint, but Kate’s not about to let that happen! Even if what Eden offers her in return for her help is pretty tough to turn down...

Marvel Generations: The Archers: Kate goes back in time somehow and meets young (regrettable costume choices) Hawkeye! Of course, she tries not to screw up the future, so instead of revealing that she’s Hawkeye too, she calls herself “Hawk-ess” and accidentally introduces Clint to the word “asshat.” Which he proceeds to use, a lot. Also, they’re stuck on an island and supposedly competing to see who’s the world’s best marksman. (Clint finally realizes it was Kate all those years ago in issue #13 of Hawkeye, which you’d think he might have remembered before, but nope. It’s comics, I’m not gonna overthink it.)

Riri Williams: Ironheart #1-6: I really enjoyed reading the issues comprising the first volume of this series while I was traveling--Eve L. Ewing does a great job of capturing Riri’s intelligence and personality (see above for her being great) and her struggles when it comes to balancing family, her MIT lab, the Champions, and protecting Chicago. I love N.A.T.A.L.I.E. and Xavier, and I’m glad she has another friend in Deija too. Also, I know Midnight’s Fire is an evil jerk who sucks, but dang, he looks cool. Love the art here, mostly by Luciano Vecchio, and I’m looking forward to reading about Riri fighting zombies with Nadia in #7. All these team-ups worry me though. I know you, Marvel. Do not cancel this series. I know that when the lead of a book is a woman and/or person of color, you usually cancel it after two volumes, but just let us have this one!
