You can usually tell how good an artist is by how they respond to critics.
A good artist will ignore their critics or respond to them in a snarky yet elegant way when it’s very clear the critic has missed the point.
A bad one will get in flame wars with their critics, or put their critics into their work in an unflattering fashion.
Nick Spencer is not a very good writer. Irrespective of his political beliefs. If you’re skewering your critics in your writing, and you’re doing it just because they criticised you, you’re not a good writer.
In another medium, this would not be as big of a problem. But the comics business- especially mainstream superhero comics- is a very difficult one to break into. And there are so many bright young writers that are infinitely better than this.
Marvel- you can do better. Fire Nick Spencer. Give one of them a chance, and save the fans from having to read crappy writing week after week.
i can't think of a cute caption :(
