also the trust thing with scott and stiles hoo boy pls do not mess with me like this. “why dont you trust anyone?” “because you trust EVERYONE” HOW ABOUT LET MY CHILDREN BE SAFE AND SOUND FOR ONCE???

im really invested in whats happening between malia, theo, and (maybe?) stiles (lydia might also be a factor in this with that one scene? hm) bc im a firm believer that malia deserves everything in the world so is she diggin theo orrr

all in all, im pretty excited for this season, id like to see more kira of course, im glad lydia is getting a good plot and i hope to all hell that theo takes it up the ass

Hey, I’ma do this publicly and add it to the tag. Cut for length: inside is character discussion, Sterek/Stalia comparison, general soapbox things. Abuse content warning. Sorry peeps on mobile! I tried to keep it short.

The abuse discussion, for me, is just a justification of hatred. I understand if some things are triggering for people, I really do, but just because something has a symptom of abuse, doesn’t mean it’s abuse. It means that there is a severe lack of communication and that is the issue that needs to be address. Stalia progressed and left off being both happy and consensual and that really pisses people off. 

Fandom always has a habit of hating on female characters for things that male characters won’t be bothered for. Coming into Sterek after watching the first season, I assumed that the fandom acknowledged how problematic Sterek in the early seasons was, but pursued the ship nonetheless. I didn’t realize that shippers actually changed their personalities and perception of what happened to make it fit their ideal relationship. I’m thinking about the car scene here: post “Miguel” where Derel slams Stiles’ head into the steering wheel. This is the equivalent of Malia punching Stiles in the face and yet she is vilified while Derek is excused. Some people even claim Stiles thinks it’s funny. Are we watching the same show??

I love Sterek with all of my heart, but the hypocrisy in the fandom is outstanding. Sterek being accused of being abusive was absolutely atrocious for many and was defended repeatedly. Then, fandom took the same accusation and spun in on another ship as soon as they could. Absolutely ridiculous!
