@deficd // invincible asked: he shot himself in his own ass intentionally?
"I don't know."
His smug, unwounded ass most definitely knows. In fact, his ass is so remarkably smug because he is responsible for compelling the wounded, barely-conscious civilian to shoot himself in his own ass. (That puts it crudely, doesn't it? Phil frowns as he reckons with his immediate distaste for Invincible.)
It's not heroism, what happened here. Threat mitigation, maybe. With Phil, that can't be the case in any long-term sense of reducing harm to property or humankind.
Phil gestures stiffly to the gunman, to the debris surrounding him: a duffle bag, a backpack, beer, cash.
"He was committing a crime," he explains. There is nothing remarkable about his tone. "You hate that sort of thing."
