Never Meant To Be This Way
Ruby bit down hard on her bottom lip as the wooden casket was lowered into the ground. Luckily, the few hunters in the area knew Sam Winchester; really there weren't many who didn't at least recognize that last name by now, and had offered their help with the burial, so Dean didn't have to do the job all on his own with only Bobby around to help. It would have been easy for Ruby to help with the digging of the grave, or even lowering the casket, what with her demonic strength, but her offer for help was refused based on her 'condition'. Instead she stood by, idly watching as her husband was lowered into the ground.
If she were human, she may have cried. She felt small pangs of guilt, as she looked over at her brother-in-law, that she couldn't leak those same salty tears like normal people. Not a lot was normal about Ruby, no matter how much she wished she was. She was still a demon, but as Sam had always said, she was different. She was special.
"I'm going inside," she said in a low voice, patting Dean's shoulder as she turned back towards Bobby's house. It was the best place they knew to bury Sam, because they could always come back to see him. Ruby would bring the baby back when she had it, let her and Sam's child visit their father. Dean could come back too, if he chose to, and do whatever it is Dean would do while talking to a headstone with his brother's name carved into it.
"Let me know when you come in. I'll go make y'all somethin' to eat."
