I'm rewatching DAMIEN and when Actor mockingly says, "Oh, my poor, sweet, Damien." under the lake I WANTED TO REACH THROUGH MY TV SCREEN AND THROTTLE THE LIFE OUT OF THAT MAN. Actor makes me so (almost irrationally) angry, if that man even BREATHED in my direction we'd be fighting. Great job Mark on creating such an insufferable bastard with absolutely no redeeming qualities

if i had a nickle for every time one of my special interests which is a youtube series where all or most of the characters are played by one guy had a main villain which was heavily associated with red and black and had a grand scheme which was essentially murder-suicide meant to take out themself and their enemy who tends to be associated with cool colours like blue or green and is also linked to the villain in such a way that they cant really be discussed in depth without bringing the other up i would have 3 nickles.
which isnt a lot but its honestly really funny and strange that it managed to happen 3 times right?

Summary: William J. Barnum has been promoted to Colonel, and he's finally ready to ask Celine out on a date. But before he asks her, he goes to Damien to get his blessing.
Ships: Actor Mark/Celine, one-sided (for now) William/Celine
Content Warnings: This starts out fluffy but do not be deceived, it ends in some Bitter bittersweet feelings, and the longer you think about it the angstier it gets.
A/N: Surprise! I wrote a Markiplier fic! in the year of our lord 2022! I was surprised too, tbh, but as Iâm sure you guys have noticed, Iâve gone off the hyperfixation deep end over here. Currently while waiting for iswm part 2, I'm especially fascinated by the period of time Before the friendship between Actor Mark, Celine, Damien, and William fell apart, and I want to write more fics like this set within 'the before times' as it were. So if you have an idea for another scene you'd like to see in that time frame, let me know, maybe I'll write it! As always, thank you to the amazing @theinvisiblespoonâ for beta reading this for me, youâre an absolute gem and I love you! If you guys like the fic, please comment or reblog it, it would make my day!

Damien scrawled his signature across the bottom of a page, then set it on top of the other completed papers on his desk. The pile of finished work was still significantly shorter than the stack that still needed attention, and Damien rubbed his eyes. He glanced at the clock, wincing when he saw it was already half past four.Â
Part of him wanted to ring for his secretary and ask for another cup of coffee, but the temporary boost in energy may not be worth being unable to get to sleep that night. The last thing he needed right now was another day spent running on too much caffeine and not enough sleep.
A knock at his office door jolted him out of his musing, and he sat up straighter, quickly smoothing back his hair and schooling his expression into an attentive smile.Â
âDamien? Have you got a minute, old chap?â a familiar voice called through the door, and Damienâs smile turned more genuine.Â
âOf course, William, come right in.âÂ
The door opened, and Damien got to his feet as a tall man in a military coat entered the room.Â
âHowâs the new uniform feeling, Colonel?â Damien asked. âI have to say, I think it suits you.âÂ
âOh, donât flatter me, Mr. Mayor,â William chortled. âEveryone knows youâre the handsome one.âÂ
âDonât let Mark hear you say that,â Damien said, and smirked when William rolled his eyes.Â
âJust because Mark managed to make it big in Hollywood doesnât mean heâs automatically the prettiest. No need to give the olâ scoundrel a bigger head than he already has.âÂ
âPerhaps not,â Damien chuckled. âTo what do I owe the pleasure, Will?âÂ
âI, erâŚI was wondering if I couldâŚask you something,â William said slowly, shuffling his feet and glancing to the side.
Damien frowned slightly. It was rare for William to be nervous, and rarer still for him to show it.Â
âOf course, whatever you need.âÂ
Damien sat down in one of the chairs he kept in front of his desk for meetings, and gestured for William to do the same. He plopped down unceremoniously, still avoiding Damienâs gaze, and Damien swallowed.
âAre you in some kind of trouble?â he asked carefully, and bit back a sigh of relief when Will shook his head.Â
âNo, no, nothing like that old boy, donât worry.â
âThen what-âÂ
âItâs about Celine.âÂ
âCeline?â Damien repeated, and Will nodded. âWhat about her?â
âYouâre my oldest friend, you know,â William said abruptly. âI can barely even remember a time we didnât know each other. And the same goes for Mark and Celine.â
Damien nodded slowly. He could scarcely think of a time before he knew Mark and William either; he and Celine had been visiting the manor where the boys had grown up for as long as he could remember.Â
âAnd you and Mark, youâre like brothers to me,â William continued. âBut CelineâŚâ he smiled nervously. âIâve been crazy about her for ages.âÂ
Damienâs eyes widened.Â
âYou donât mean as in-â
âIâve wanted to ask to court her for years now, but I wantedâŚI wanted to be the sort of man who was good enough for her. And now with this promotionâŚâ he fingered the new bars on his uniform. âIf I donât have a shot now, then I never will.âÂ
âYouâŚare you asking my permission?â Damien asked. âYou know I donât control her life, right?â
âOh, of course,â William said with a laugh. âWe both know you couldnât if you even tried, sheâs her own woman through and through. I justâŚitâs been the four of us against the world for so long, you know? But I know before that, it was just the two of you. If you donât approve of me as a match for her, or if you think itâd be too weird for our friendship? I wonât ask, you have my word.âÂ
âWilliamâŚâ Damien got to his feet, and William quickly stood to join him. âYouâre one of the best men that I know. As far as Iâm concernedâŚyou didnât need a promotion to be good enough for Celine.â Â
Williamâs eyes widened slightly, then his face bloomed into a smile and he reached over to sock Damien on the arm.Â
âAw, bully, now youâre getting all sentimental on me, you rapscallion!â
âYou started it,â Damien chuckled, rubbing his arm. âBut reallyâŚI mean it. I think the two of you would be a fine match; if thatâs what she wants, of course. I canât guarantee that sheâll say yes, sheâs never looked very favorably on suitors in the past.âÂ
âI know, I know,â William acknowledged. âAnd itâs very possible that sheâll be incapable of viewing me as anything more than a friend. But I need to at least let her know how I feel. Whatever happens next is her choice.â
âLife is ours to choose, after all,â Damien said. âIâm afraid I canât give you any insight into how she might feel, she doesnât exactly discuss such matters with me. But Iâll say it again, Will, youâre one of the best men that I know. And regardless of whatever else she may feel, Iâm sure that Celine would agree with me there.âÂ
âWell, I certainly hope youâre right, old chap. I suppose weâll find out soon enough.âÂ
âWill you be asking her soon?â
âI thought Iâd broach the subject with her after our scheduled dinner tomorrow night.â
âWait, is that tomorrow already?â Damien exclaimed. He turned to his desk, sifting through the papers for his appointment book, where sure enough, the dinner date with his friends was scrawled in red ink for the next evening.
âYou didnât forget, did you?â
âI didnât forget,â Damien insisted. âI justâŚlost track of time, thatâs all.âÂ
âSeriously? You lost track of time? Youâve been working too hard, Damien,â William said. âI know youâre the Bigshot Mr. Mayor now, but you still need to cut loose every now and then. For your own sanity.âÂ
âPerhaps youâre right,â Damien sighed. âBut for now, I do need to get back to work. Iâll see you at dinner tomorrow?âÂ
âYou better! If youâre late, the others and I will show up here and physically drag you out of the office.â
William tossed a cheerful wave over his shoulder as he exited the office, and Damien smiled to himself. He hadnât been lying when he said he couldnât guarantee how his twin would respond to Willâs affections, but he knew that she had always enjoyed his company. And of all the people his sister could court, she could certainly do a lot worse than William J. Barnum. Â
--- --- ---
The following day, Damien did not forget about his dinner plans, and he showed up to the restaurant where he was supposed to meet his friends at six thirty on the dot. Mark and Celine were already at the restaurant waiting for him, and a few minutes later, William joined them.
âI thought we were going to have to send a search party out for you,â Damien joked, and William rolled his eyes.Â
âSure, letâs all pretend you would have remembered about tonight if I hadnât reminded you.âÂ
âI didnât forget!â Damien insisted, and William opened his mouth to reply, but Celine cut in first.Â
âAre we going to go inside, or are we going to listen to the two of you bicker until they give our table away?âÂ
âGive away a table meant for the Hollywood celebrity Mark Fischbach and none other than the Mayor of our great city? They wouldnât dare,â William said with a laugh.Â
âAlright, alright, letâs go in,â Damien said.Â
They were quickly seated, and while Damien did notice a few glances thrown their way, nobody approached them directly, which he was relieved about. Mark liked the attention, he knew, and heâd be lying if he said there werenât times he enjoyed it himself, but sometimes he just wanted to be able to have a nice evening with his friends without worrying about the publicâs eyes on him.Â
âA toast,â Mark said once the waiter brought them their drinks. âTo moving up in the world. May our newly elected Mayor have a long and happy reign, may the newly instated Colonel William J. Barnum lead his brigade with honor, and may the new movie I just signed a contract for not end up bombing at the box office. Who knew the three of us would come this far?âÂ
âI did,â Celine said, raising her glass. âI always knew youâd all do great things.âÂ
âWhile your faith in us is commendable, I do think itâs fair to say that there were times when you were our only supporter,â Damien pointed out. âStill, nowâs not the time to be morose, weâre celebrating!âÂ
âIndeed we are,â Mark said. âAs a matter of factâŚâ he looked across the table at Celine, who nodded at him, and Damienâs stomach dropped. âI have one more happy announcement.âÂ
Mark stood, holding out a hand to Celine, who took it, standing beside him. Damien stole a glance in Williamâs direction, wincing when he saw his friendâs face frozen in shock.Â
âCeline and I would like to announce our courtship to you both. I know weâve all been friends for a very long time, and that this may take a moment to wrap your heads around, but I hope weâll have your support.âÂ
Damien swallowed, forcing himself not to think about the look on Williamâs face as he stood as well.
âOf course you do, Mark. Congratulations to the both of you!â He reached over to pull Celine into a quick hug, then shook Markâs hand. âYou know, I am the Mayor now,â he said, giving him a pointed look. âSo I can make things very difficult for you if you break her heart.âÂ
âI can take care of myself, little brother,â Celine said while Mark laughed.
âYes, yes, I know,â Damien said. âBut that doesnât mean I canât take care of you too. Besides, youâre only older by ten minutes.âÂ
âYes, yes, all the congratulations to the happy couple,â William said. âNow can we please all have a seat so I can order? Iâm dying to cut into a good steak.âÂ
âOf course, of course, canât keep the carnivore from his meal,â Mark said with a chuckle.Â
âYouâre hardly any better,â Damien pointed out, taking his seat.Â
The rest of the evening dragged on in what Damien could only describe as the most obliviously awkward dinner in his life. Mark and Celine seemed blissfully unaware of the tension in the air, too focused on each other to notice Damienâs discomfort or William's uncharacteristic silence. Damien did his best to engage all three of them in conversation, but no matter what he did, he couldnât seem to improve the atmosphere.Â
Finally, the bill arrived, which Mark paid, and the four of them got up to leave.Â
âCongratulations again,â Damien said as they stood outside, waiting for the valets to bring them their cars. âI wish the two of you every happiness.â
âThank you, old friend,â Mark said, shaking his hand warmly. âYour support means a lot to me.â
Markâs Cadillac pulled up beside them, and after tipping the valet, Mark opened the passenger door for Celine. The two of them waved goodbye as they drove away, and Damien returned their wave, his grip like iron on the head of his cane.
âI think perhaps you missed your true calling, old chap,â William said dully when the car was out of sight. âIt seems Mark is not the only great actor among our party.â
âI didnât know,â Damien said immediately. âI swear, Will, I had no idea-âÂ
âYes, yes, obviously,â William said, waving his hand. âBut the role of the happy, supportive brother and friend? You certainly pulled that off without a hitch.âÂ
âWill,â Damien winced. âIâŚI am happy for them. The timing couldnât be more terrible, and Iâm so sorry for you, I truly am, but they do seem to be happy together. I wish more than anything that their happiness didnât come at the cost of your pain, but⌠I still want to support my sister. And both of my friends.âÂ
William sighed, then gave a weak smile.Â
âThis is why you became the politician, old boy. Always finding a way to keep the peace.â
âI just want-â
âNo, no, youâre right, of course,â William said. âI canât blame either of them, really, itâs my own fault for not working up the nerve to ask her sooner.â He laughed, but there was no humor in the sound. âNow Iâll probably never know what she would have said.âÂ
âWilliam, I-â
âItâs alright, Damien. You donât have to explain anything to me. Itâs like you said, Celine is her own woman. Sheâs made her choice, and I wonât stand in the way of that.âÂ
âMr. Mayor?â A valet interrupted them, holding out a set of keys. âYour car, sir.â
âThank you,â Damien said, taking the keys and handing the valet a few bills. âCan I give you a ride home?â he asked, turning back to William, but he shook his head. Â
âIâll take a cab, old chap, donât worry about me. You run along and enjoy the rest of your evening. Or do more boring mayor stuff, whatever it is you like.âÂ
âI- if youâre sure, then,â said Damien. He opened the driverâs side door of his car, then looked back at William. âYou know, I meant what I said earlier. Youâre still one of the best men that I know, Will. And even if it isnât inâŚthat way, I know that Celine cares for you too. We are both still your friendsâŚand that wonât ever change. I promise.âÂ
William smiled, and Damien thanked whatever might be listening that it appeared genuine.Â
âI know, Damien. I wonât forget, donât worry about me.âÂ
âSomebody has to,â Damien said, and William snorted.Â
âGo home, old boy, a mayor should get his rest.âÂ
He turned on his heel and strode away down the sidewalk, leaving Damien alone next to his car.Â
âMr. Mayor?â the valet piped up. âIâm terribly sorry, but we need the driveway clear in order to tend to our other guests.âÂ
âOh, yes, of course. My apologies,â Damien said, nodding to the valet before climbing into his car and pulling out of the driveway.Â
He drove home in a haze, playing the events of the evening over and over again in his mind. Could he have done something different? Said something that could have prevented this? But no matter how much he turned the problem over in his head, he could see no solution.Â
At the end of the day, both Celine and Mark were adults, who had every right to choose each other. And they had seemed happy, smiling and laughing and holding hands all through the night. And Mark was a good man, he knew that heâd treat Celine well, and provide her with anything she could possibly need.Â
But no matter how happy the two of them had looked, it couldnât erase the startled, pained look on Williamâs face from his mind.Â
âThis doesnât have to change anything,â Damien said aloud to himself as he made his way into his apartment. âIt wonât change anything. The four of us have been through so much, we can make it through this. Everything will be fine. It will be.âÂ
And maybe, in another time, in another life, he would have even been telling the truth.

A/N: Once again, if you enjoyed, please consider commenting or reblogging! (remember, like do nothing on this hellsite). If this hyperfixation train keeps going, then I may have to start a markiplier fic taglist again, so if youâd like to be on that, let me know! Love yâall <3
Hi Everyone! Since Who Killed Markiplier is back on everyoneâs minds again after todayâs video, I figured Iâd promote this thing I made as an introduction to the lore! (And yes, I did make this, thatâs my main blogâs url on the cover oops)
These are some examples of the pages! Itâs a 30 page pdf document that I originally made on Canva.Â
It breaks down the characters and the lore of the WKM series as well as the WMLW and Damien short films.Â
Iâd really appreciate it if you checked it out! I made it a while ago but Iâve since unfortunately lost the original editable file. If enough people want it, Iâve been thinking about redoing it (and maybe this time including the Wilford video from today hehe)Â
