Prefix: Marigold Common Marigold, Calendula officinalis, an edible herb historically used as medicine. An annual flower that returns year after year, its leaves made into a poultice for healing infected cuts and scratches, sometimes as eyedrops. Marigolds are pest preventives, and planted to shield more sensitive plants in the garden. In human culture, marigolds can symbolize death, and grief of a loved one, but in clan culture, the orange and yellow hues represent strength, protection, beauty and warmth of the rising sun and its power to resurrect and cure ailments. A common but invaluable member of the garden, blooming all the way into late-leaf fall suggests an endurance, a steadfast and quiet defense.

A cat with the prefix Marigold likely has a nurturing instinct, but very few would call it softness – Marigolds are tough, slightly bitter, and practical. A kitten named Marigold would be warm, golden, a promising and guiding light to her other siblings.

Suffix: Fang Fang on the otherhand, is a contradictory suffix. The longest tooth in the mouth, a fang is precise, penetrating, and fierce. This differs from suffixes like -tooth, which has a speaking or charismatic implication, or -bite which has a broader combative purpose. -Fang suggests a fighter who strikes with intensity, claw wounds are superficial, but a fang wound goes deep, into muscle and bone – this is a cat who commits fully, whether in battle, belief or loyalty. And strikes with precision, a level of focus, a -fang cat doesn’t scatter her energy, but chooses one point and sinks in. They are feared and respected for their ability to cause lasting damage, but also for self control. There is no wasted effort.

Before being in the nursery, MarigoldFang was an agile cat, often being the one to deal the final blow on fleeing prey others did not get, her kits are 3 moons old, and no one knows who their father is, and MarigoldFang doesn't seem so keen on sharing that.
