After a fun day yesterday diving with seals at Floreana Island, this morning we met at Scuba Iguana in Puerto Ayora again at 0730.
There were a group of 10! divers today to dive Gordon Rock. We headed off to the dive site from the Puerto Ayora pier at about 8AM and it was about a 50 minute transit. All new divers to Scuba Iguana did a short 10 minute check dive, and then we approached Gordon Rock:

Gordon Rock dive site was ranked the 6th Best dive site in the world by this CNN Article.
This year I’ve also dove the 1st and 4th rated dive sites, and I honestly think Gordon Rock deserves a higher ranking then either of those (#1 Barracuda Point, Sipadan, Malaysia and #4, Blue Corner Wall, Palau, Micronesia.)

What did I see today in the cold waters surrounding Gordon Rock? Mola Mola (Oceanic Sunfish), Hammerheads, marble rays, white tip sharks, spotted eagle rays, turtles, seals, and a plethora of other small fishes. I have already declared this the best dive day ever, and I don’t know what could top it, unless I saw all of these things AND a whale shark all in one day :)

Next up on the dive log for me tomorrow, is two Christmas Eve dive sites around Seymour Island in Galápagos.
I don’t know how tomorrow could ever top today, but will go into it open-minded :)

"Finally, a break in the rain – we’ve even had a bit of sun! We’ve had a bit of hammerhead action on most dives, but not much cleaning going on – I suspect the strangely warm (low 80’s) water temperature has something to do with this. However, we’ve been buzzed by lots of Galapagos sharks and seen many (fat!) white tip sharks and marble rays, I’ve spent some time shooting gorgeous reef scenics, complete with lots of blue line snappers and big scale soldierfish. Just yesterday, my dive group was passed by a pod of bottlenose dolphins underwater, but when we returned to the boat to brag about it, the other group smugly told us they’d seen a whale shark.
