11 - Noah | âDealerâs pick on genreâ [Relates back to Garthâs story]
Told ya sheâd come back.
The old woman knew that she was on her last leg. Each breathe became more and more tiresome. She thought that it was a miracle that she made it this far, then again, she worked in the business of miracles. âCairistonia?â The nurse stuck her head in the hospital room. âYou have a visitor. She had an odd feeling that she knew who it was. There was no way, though. He had gone off saving the world with his group, âthe Riftwalkersâ or something like that. He found a new tribe, or so she thought. An old, yet familiar blond head poked in, "There she is!â The energy in his voice was oddly comforting. Like a song she hadnât heard in ages. She attempted to breathe out a greeting, but her strength was not quite what it used to be. âHey-hey, you donât need to talk,â he rushed toward her, kneeling by her bedside. âI just wanted to come here, while I had the time, to thank you. I wanna thank you for all the patience that you held up for me, all the love that you poured out, and all the wisdom that you instilled. Iâve done some things that many would call great deeds, but I wouldnât have been able to accomplish anything a third as amazing if it wasnât for your help.â Cairistonia smiled at her old apprentice. There was a glow about her that showed that she was at peace with things. âAlso, thereâs somebody that I want you to meet,â he gestured at the door, seemingly beckoning someone from just outside. Cairistoniaâs heart fluttered. 'Who could it possibly be?â In walked a strapping young man, not quite the spitting image of the young man she once knew, but there was an air about him that made their relationship known. He knelt down and held cradled Cairistoniaâs hand in his own. âThis is Noah,â he patted the young manâs back. âHeâs told me so much about you,â he smiled. âIâm so glad to finally meet you.â âNoah is moving to your island in Maradin. Heâs going to do great things for the tribe.â This made the young man make a bashful expression. Cairistoniaâs smile simply grew wider. The entire room seemed to glow. Behind the two men, she saw a great, warm light. It was welcoming. It was time to go home. Cairistonia passed with a smile on her face.
