Summary:

It’s been a long while since Amy Rose found it on herself to enjoy her life. She had it all: friends to love her, a comfortable life, the boyfriend of her dreams. Yet she felt nothing but emptiness.

Missing seeing Blaze’s face around, she wrote her a letter, not really waiting for it to arrive to the girl to her dimension.

But the impossible happened.

The concept of Silv getting severely jealous when it comes to Espio’s interactions, building this gross grandiose higher view for Espio while not directly caring about whether or not it’s effecting his mental health. Silv does care for Espio but he’s convinced that any bit of attention he gets from Esp, is far superior than if he were to not get any attention at all. It’s fascinating to me.

Silver, having already developed a savior complex, would not surprise me if he became desensitized and became unable to empathize with others. Obviously this is a severe case seeing as Silv later on literally commits murder and obviously not everyone with NPD is the same but the way you wrote his thoughts. Its so . Good.

Going to the actual question. In early concept I didn’t planned Silver to have NPD. The earliest concept of the fic was “Espilver with cannibal Silver” and everything built from that. I just needed some plot to eventually get to the cannibalism which is what led to the yandere part. It’s not, like, an active effort to had given him NPD traits, but I may have unconsciously written some of that in, and I can definitely see where you’re coming from.

From chapter 11 (spoilers) (you should go and read it first wink wink promotion wink) I wanted to put the first signs of that jealousy, and I’m glad it did come across as I wanted! Because he’s reading about Espio being happier than ever. Genuine living his life and having the will to live once again. And he logically knows that he should be happy because he “loves” Espio, and if you love someone you should want them to be happy. But Espio spends more pages speaking nicely about other people that aren’t Silver, and that doesn’t sit right to him.

Silver definitely “cares” for Espio, but he doesn’t care in the way he thinks he does. He doesn’t want Espio to die, because if he dies then he can’t be with him. But Espio is very blatantly suicidal, and suicidal as direct effect of Silver’s actions. Silver is too unaware of what he’s doing being wrong to realize that, and even if he were to realize he would just double down. He cares about Espio. He cares about what Espio can do for him. He cares about what Espio can make him feel. He only starts panicking and changing his focus once Espio starts actively making suicide plans. Not caring about the months and months of making him paranoid, anxious, turning him into a hikikomori and almost ruining his friendship with Vector and Charmy. Because if he was anxious thinking about his stalker, that meant he was thinking about Silver. And that was the important part: that he was thinking about him 24/7

Silver has a sense of entitlement to Espio’s attention and love. He has suffered and put so much effort to be with Espio, so clearly he deserves him more than anyone. Which means that if Espio is paying attention to anyone else it feels like a personal injustice. And we all know Silver and the lengths he’d go to protect what he thinks is fair (Sonic 06)

He doesn’t like the thought of Vector’s opinion mattering so much to Espio to the point that, if Vector found any reason to dislike Silver, Espio would dislike him. Because Silver deserves that trust more, so what did Vector do that he hasn’t?

It makes him mad to see Espio making plans to go out and have fun with other people. Because after all the trouble he went to, he’ll just abandon him for people that are worth his time less?

But it’s all because he doesn’t know any better. And I don’t mean that in the way of “oh poor baby uwuw cinnamon roll it’s ok if you stalk people you’re just in loveeee” like, no. I’m not justifying what Silver is doing. He’s supposed to be very blatantly in the wrong and I hope that’s clear by the text. What I mean is that he LITERALLY doesn’t know any better. Again, in chapter 11 (you still haven’t read it? You totally should wink wink promoting wink), it’s shown that he doesn’t know the simplest things about being in love. He had spent all his life surviving and fighting and carrying the weight on the world in his shoulders, he never quite learned to develop any kind of emotional intelligence. And he had nobody to tell him otherwise. If he had a support system. A single friend in the future to give him a punch of reality and tell him that this wasn’t normal, none of this would’ve happened. But again, he spent surviving so long he never allowed himself to make friends. All his friendships are in the past, and by the moment he returned it was too late for anyone to correct him.
